Brooks out for the rest of the season

That's terrible news for Luke. Looked like he, Doueihi and Hastings were starting to really click which was great for Laurie's form. So hopefully this doesn't harm any progress too much.

All the best in recovery Brooksy.

lol gosh sorry
just realised the message I posted
it should have been
7. Hastings
6 douhie
13 Joffa

It makes sense now. I think it all depends on where they see Hastings. If they view him as a lock forward to improve our attack then we have to play him there.

I think you have to keep Doueihi at 6.

Maybe the club is thinking we have to play with someone like Hastings at 13 to improve our attack. So we play a different style to most other clubs in the comp and maybe if we click we can beat a lot of teams.

The downside is our forwards have gotten rolled heaps of times and Hastings is not an extra prop.

I don’t want to be overly cynical here but if Brooks is out for the remainder of this year and Newcastle is interested / does have cap money spare. Could they sign him this season in order to front load his contract with what ever money they have spare?
And
Could we use some of our Mikalee, Nofa money to chip in without damaging our future years cap?

Team physiotherapist Kenny Michalopoulos says Brooks can expect to be out for 5-6 weeks.

Jock Madden is likely to slot into half back against the Broncos with Jackson Hastings retaining his position at lock.

Interim coach Brett Kimmorley admits it’s a blow for Brooks but is confident his replacement is ready to fill the void.

“Jock has done well for us whenever he’s been called upon this season.

He’s a quality player and I know he’ll make the most of this opportunity.”

In other injury news, Luke Garner is hoping to be available for next weekend’s home game against the Knights after injuring his neck last weekend against the Cowboys.

Stefano Utoikamanu is recovering well after undergoing surgery a fortnight ago to repair his scaphoid fracture. He’s just commenced a running program.

Tommy Talau has recently commenced team integration and contact work. He’s progressing nicely and should return to full team training over the next month.

Shawn Blore is making steady progress as he continues to build on his speed and agility program.

Tommy Talau might come in handy next year if he can transition to second row.
