Unless Brooks drastically changes his form around he won’t be needed after 2019\. Straight swap for Cleary

Yes but the 5/8 roll could be a game changer for him defensively great , just can not handle the pressure of running the show.
Even if NC does not come I still would be looking for another 7.

Yep can't argue, Brooks just seems a natural 6 not an organiser. It's no surprise Brooks was playing his best footy when BEnji was steering the team around

But I can't fault Reynolds, for the games hes played for us he's been really good

Brooks needs to simplify his game stick to what he can do and thats it. Get a long range kick to corners, kick for repeat set, take some runs and defend. Thats it. All the other crap has to stop.

18 errors, 8 penalties and brooks is the problem :roll

His kicking and running game sucked that hard Farah had to take over .

Exactly Hobbo, Farah got instructed by Cleary to start running the ball because Brooks went missing, it is never Brooks's fault when he stinks, which is quite a lot lately, it is the forwards, the hooker, the coach, Ronnie Palmer or anyone else.
He was schooled by Ash Taylor who is 9 months younger with 34 games less experience playing in a team below us on the ladder, there comes a time when you say this bloke just doesn't get it, he will never be able to steer a team and own a game, not his fault, but it should have been sorted before he reached 100 games. :deadhorse:

Useually a gun halfback can create something from nothing .
In over 100 games brooks hasn’t once taken a game by the scruff of the neck and got us home.

Yeah …our plodder pack is disgusting

I don't mean to be critical of Brooks but cut him some slack his still a young half back learning his trade  His stats will tell you so .
Give him another 100 games and he might take control of this team .

If he’s going to be here for another 100 games were royally screwed

Surely the Super League has to be an option for him , i will even organise a tour of the Millwall facilities….only trying to help 😕

I've heard all the excuses under the sun on this Forum over the year's in regards with Brooks not progressing and living up to his potential…..
1\. Moses taking to much control in the halves and not allowing Brooks to do his natural number 7 role .
2\. The forwards not giving him enough protection in defence for his so many missed tackles over the years .
3\. That JT was stifling his natural game
4\. Lack of go Forward from our forwards not hitting the advantage line and no room for him to do his thing .
5\. That Robbie Farah was over running his hand most of the time and never gave enough ball to Brooks .
Anymore ?????????????

And soon to be :
That Robbie is back and back to his old tricks that's why Brooks form is down

Spot on FT, some people just can't except that the only one of the big 4 still here, can't cut it at as an NRL half, must be someone else's fault, kind of makes sense that he is the only one still here, no one was beating his door down with offers like they were for the other 3.
I was quite hopeful early in the year that he was finally coming good, said quite a few times, but once his bubble burst he has regressed back to where he was before, which is no help to our NRL team.
I just want the club to succeed and be a finals contender every year, but sadly with Brooks steering the side this will most likely be a pipe dream. 😢

Any chance of swapping Brooks with Drinkwater as I said when he left that he was our only halfback at the club.
He and Gamble formed a good partnership in reserve grade maybe they could be 6 n 7 next season.

Brahhh…..
Gamble is a whole new level of atrocity.

Drinkwater was great for state cup but when he played grade he was awful.

They're probably great guys but some dudes just don't have it....

Bit harsh on the limited time Tyson’s been at the club but we have to think outside the square a little. But time must be up for Luke thru my eyes. Cheap option for us and could pave the way for a quality forwards signing.

Gamble has played one NRL game and he is rubbish, Brooks has played 99, I think you are right, Gamble not afforded any excuses after one game.

The motor industry has a lemon ? law …
West’s Tigers need to implement one .

Brooks is hopeless, has to take the wrap now, most others have been replaced, forget N Cleary, thanks to Dad, we won’t have enough cap to buy him, chase young Flanagan

Yesterday's game would have been completely different if there was someone there calling the shots and keeping everyone CALM and focussed. Packed didn't do it. Brooks didn't do it. Fatah didn't do it. Reynolds didn't do it.

All for different reasons, and each played good, bad or indifferent.

We are certainly carrying a few injuries too, you can see that at the ground.

The only reason Marshall went well at the beginning is because everyone the team were looking for the one guy providing the direction. It works, not Brooks scared of Farah, Farah scared cause he's been told to shut up and play, not Mbye because he just got here, not Packed because he's playing busted, not Lawrence because he's quiet and not a loud leader…....It just goes on.

We don't have a single player to stand up, be strong and call the shots. How many times did we throa the ball away with a stupid pass after just getting a 6 again wave? I had to apologise to the kids sitting in front of me because I kept yelling #######ing idiots every 6 tackles.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE CHARGE !!!!

Thanks Swordy. That is how I see it. Yes Brooks playing has improved this year but in my opinion he is still not in control. Unfortunately I still don't see him as a leader.

Totally agree with both you guys….. he has talent and has improved this year But when it’s come to the crunch he hasn’t stood up.
He’s still a Deer in the headlights to me.

Yep I'll agree too. Pretty good assessment Swordy. Trouble is, we have two #6 playing in our halves and neither is a good organiser. And in a game like that I don't want my #7 taking the option to run into a no-win situation and getting tackled on the last. Taking the wrong option has plagued Luke during his career.

I'm not a huge Luke Brooks fan, but some of these calls are pretty harsh.

Our forwards don't have the skills to create scoring opportunities and until last weekend we didn't really have a hooker or fullback that could create much either.

He seems to be struggling a little without Benji there to create some extra opportunities.

Good call on that we hav two no 6\. Hopefully coach acts on it.

Dammit why isn't a 23 year-old footballer a proven leader of men? Should have already happened by now.

Honestly all this talk about Brooks being the leader, calling the shots etc. That's what I'd expect of blokes like Packer, Farah, Marshall, not a kid. Sure Brooks has been around a while but he's still a kid and being the halfback has all the pressure.

Nate Cleary certainly doesn't call all the shots when the game is on the line - he's able to rely on Maloney for that. And at club level, that partnership is breaking down recently, a couple of really ordinary losses for what was a table-topping side. Cleary is still also a kid.

We didn't lack for scoring opportunities on Sunday, we lacked for clinical finishing. It occurred across the park - Naiqama, Reynolds, Mbye, Farah, Brooks, Masters all making poor choices or fumbling with the try-line begging.

Brooks not cleared of criticism by any means, but I just don't support these threads where Brooks is having a pretty good season all over, but because the team has fallen down, it must be specifically someone's fault and here is the thread where we've identified an easy target.

Our forwards need to go forward to create opportunities for the 6&7

But sometimes it’s up to ‘the general’ or your halfback to get them in line. And Luke hasn’t got that quality.
He’s genuinely played well this year but for a half to direct us around the park HE IS sadly not

More excuses

As I said earlier in the season the only halfback we had at the club is now playing in England. But on a positive note we have first dibs on him to come back to the club. Good enough goal kicker aswell.
