Brown & Daniella Waste of Time? Yes? No?

I may be the only person on this forum who thinks so, but I personally think that Mitch Brown is going to be a dud and Geoff Daniela is going to be the suprise packet. I watched Daniela before he got injured and while he was in first grade and he was a very exciting player, good pace and the ability to beat defenders. Since then he has put on pleny of muscle and IMO if given his chance 2010 will be a very good year for him.

JOSH davis ran all over the top of Daniella late last year in a state cup game , Josh made Daniella look very very ordinary indeed.

we sold collis and picked up brown and daniella with change… smart decision to be honest.. collis ended up being nothing but a fringe player for us, and so will these two... bout time we start paying these bloke what there worth.

Maybe: but if neither play NRL could both play for Wests or Balmain in NSW Cup??.If so could be good buys.

I have no idea why we'd buy fringe first graders from teams that finished below us,particularly when we finished runner up in both state Cup & under 20s.
Surely we have enough potential young talent in the centres/wings coming thru who may or may not make it without having to speculalte on these guys, who also may or may not make it?
I hope Im surprised, but Id rather spend my $$ on shoring up key postions with quality signings where weve been proven deficient in the past(ie prop)where we have no ready replacements if injuries prevail

yeah poppa of course they can…
and clontarfkid i agree, but we cant expect these kids in the 20s to maintain week in week out nrl footy. ashford did and i beleive he is gonna be a great player as is moltzen. the club must have other ideas then us as i would of went out hard for props, but we only bought cayless. with maybe moors and tame topou to fill in i guess

Depth! I think you will find that these players discussed would only be on base payments. Whilst we still have others contracted to 20's or state cup i don't think there is a need to bring them into the full time squad, hence why they have brought in players who have had some FG experience.

I still think Brown may be the buy of the year.

I think we actually do have a lot of prop options this year, i don't agree with all of the talk that we need too many more props:

Galloway
Cayless
Gibbs
Payten
Moors
Tupou
Woods
Fifita
Fifita

Not too bad in that area to be honest

Galloway….Gun
Cayless....0 games in the NRL for 4 years...returning from injury..experienced...
Gibbs....the Year of Bryce
Payten.....Needs to lift by his own addmission to be a metre making Prop....
Moors....backrower...fill in front rower...
Tupou....Winger.... but yes being looked at in the forwards......Unknown
Woods .....0 First Grade games....
Fifita....0 First Grade games....
Fifita....0 First Grade games...

That's a long list and while it's high on potential it still lacks experience... injuries to our key frontrowers for any length of time during the season and it looks a bit thin IMO.....

They are good signings if they are both on the minimum NRL wage. Tuqiri might not come till a month or 2 in the season (if he is coming at all) and Tuiaki wont be in the side for atleast 4 weeks into the season and there is talk Tupou will be playing in the forwards now. So Daniela and Brown will provide depth for the backline and we will need it.
