Brown vs McKinnon

I was more than happy when we signed McKinnon because I think he has the style of play that will really suit the Tigers but considering he hasn't had an off-season to gel with the boys and form some combinations he hasn't really made a big impact to our attack just yet, I think a full off-season will change that.

Then enter Brown over the past couple of weeks whom I didn't think was that impressive so far this season and all of a sudden with some solid game time in his preffered position he has really shone. Some great takes (maybe hasn't been overly tested), good positional play and most importantly brings the ball back with absolutle gusto and gets us on the front foot from the get go!!

So it begs the question whether Brown should be our fullback moving forward to the finals due to his form and also to maintain some continuity with our team and our attack or do we bring back McKinnon when fit??

I think that Brown has earnt the right to build some momentum into the finals, this gives our team some stability, gives Mckinnon some real time to recover and get his injury right and then in the off-season allow the boys to contest for the position once both are give ample opportunity to develop some combinations.

Thoughts??

Was thinking the same thing - I think McKinnon has definitely shown more feel for the position with his support play, and that's to be expected. He's a fullback.

But, and I'm a bit suprised, Brown has seemed more comfortable under the high ball and running the ball off his line in general. Considering that our attacking play is going just fine, I say stick with Brown.

What's broken is our right edge attack. Once mckinnon comes back, move brown to right wing, daniella to right centre, put beau or ayshford on the bench and put the other back in state cup

Two totally differn't players, Brown is bigger & fatser then Mckinnon and is also more versitile.. Mckinnon looks for the ball more and is always supporting players looking for the ball, runs good lines and chimes into the back line more and a safe pair of hands.. For me i would chuck Brown on Ryans wing and play Wade at fullback..

Ayshford is great. He really needs someone to always be running off him because he's amazing at getting one hand free.

McKinnon simply because hes a natural fullback and does great supporting plays, Brown has really impressed me over the last two weeks though..

Ayshford was one of our best today with a high workrate.

Can't see him going anywhere…

Wade is a fullback and as mentioned he is up with the support play , Brown on the other hand cant just leave his position and get involved in all the plays hence at the moment doesnt appear to be a supporting fullback.
I like Brown anywhere on the pitch as he appears confident with whatever he does , he makes a mistake but then backs up with a good play.Ryan on the otherhand is perfect example of a player that can easly be affected if things are not going his way(we saw this against Souths).I would pick Wade but still keep Brown in the team.

At the moment Brown has to be in the 17\. If McKinnon is for the finals, I'm pretty sure Sheens will throw him straight back in. If this happens I daresay Brown will end up on the bench. It's not necessarily fair, but it's what I think will happen.

Agreed….I don't know why we don't push up and support Ayshford especially on the inside...seems to punch through the line a lot often with the ball in 1 hand....

Brown has to retain his spot in front of Mckinnon for mine...If he's been close each week get him to prove it in State Cup....

Brown is doing a great job, but McKinnon will walk straight back in once ready…

McKinnon is a Match Winner and is leaps and bounds ahead of Brown defensively!

Mitch Brown for me. McKinnon has struggelled for fitness all year and hasn't been an absolute stand-out. He hasn't demanded the fullback spot and in the last couple of weeks Brown has played well and the side seems more consistent. Don't change it I say.

He has his had free but doesn't even look like wanting to pass, he's still the weak link in our back line imo

Yeah, I'd vote Brown - he's played really well not only the last two games, but in general, I believe, throughout the season… one or two fluffy games - but then again, who hasn't had a bad game here or there??... I reckon stick with him, as he's proved his worth and deserves a spot in the starting side ... I mean...what else does he have to do??....Full back should be chosen on form, not reputation... McKinnon is great, but would have to be a bit rusty, what with all the time off....

If we are serious title contenders then McKinnon based on his experience in attack and defense. Wade has slowed down alot though, maybe something to do with his niggling injury. Brown is good but needs to support his halves abit more and work on his urgency in attempting to save a try whether it be a dangerous grubber or just getting to the attacking player to attempt to hold him up!
