Blair was rubbish at the Broncos too, that’s why he got punted to the Warriors.

He was actually very good his first year there. Great in the grand final.

Adam Blair was very good at picking up pay cheques. Not sure what other qualities he offered post-2011.

Adam Blair was also very good at giving away penalties

People said sheens played him wrong when he was with us ..
He certainly played better for the Broncos and Warriors ?

Always thought he was solid, like mbye - just a nrl standard player

Was never a marquee signing, another one we got terribly wrong

That's a misconception.

He played well in 2015 for the Broncos because the missing piece in their pack was someone who was tough and uncompromising in defence. A guy who didn't mind giving a penalty away if it meant opposition playmakers and outside backs didn't want to run the ball at him. Wingers and fullbacks hated playing the Broncos because they had the fear of getting their head taken off by Blair. They didn't need a forward leader, or somebody to put up big numbers or have impact runs - guys like Corey Parker, Matt Gillett, Sam Thaiday, Alex Glenn, Corey Oates, Jack Reed and Justin Hodges were doing that job.

At the Warriors, they needed a leader who would excel both statistically and in leadership. Instead, they got a guy who gave away pointless, dumb penalties and didn't put up any numbers. I won't forget the game for them against Melbourne where he only had one run for 13 metres, and that one run was when somebody put him through for a try.

He dogged it with us ..
All he did with us was injure his own team mates .

Ran around like a headless chook when he was here. He looked lost. Sometimes he played like he'd never met some of his team mates.

Anyone could see that we the players didn’t apply themselves like the professional squads do.

Madge will change that but it’s going to take a few years which we all don’t like.

If you read between the lines at Madge's last press conference, he is saying exactly that

Adam Blair has been pathetic on the field since he left the storm, which was 9 seasons ago! It astounds me how this guy kept cashing cheques. An absolute fraud.

He should be forever thankful for his manager for setting him up for life

Absolutely Tony. The bloke underachieved with a STACKED roster at St George, had some success in the B-grade Super League and since then he has rebranded himself as a rebuild coach, a cop=out if ever there was one

Teddy Blair was useless for us. What a waste of good money that should've gone toward retaining Fifita. I've always hated seeing dudes like Fifi, Taupau (Dogs U-20's but we gave him the chance), Beau, Gibbs, Benji first time round, let go and we stock our shelves with lower calibre players that we pay overs for with little return.
Hope this kind of ineptitude is a thing of the past.
Addo-Carr, let's just get him in the door (for the right price) and deal with the fall-out of not playing fullback later.
Teddy was always special, shd never have let him go, but that's done.
We need guys who want to be here and have an endearment to the club... Like Nof.
So glad Madge put it succinctly by saying "he's not going anywhere."
P.S. Up yours Mini!...

You lost me at Beau Ryan.

Agree Beau Ryan was pretty ordinary.
Fifita we should never have lost.
In remembering Blair after he signed with us people started to work out you can be a star in the Melbourne system and if you leave that system you are average.
Cronk an exception as he was part of the make up of the system with Smith and Slater.
I fear a guy like Welch taken out of the system might be average too.
JAC is different as he is a star and rep player

Listened to Browny's coaches corner segment on Triple M today. He was taking about Adam Blair and his pending retirement. Very interesting comments about WT and our culture.

Browny said Blair came through the storm system and is the hardest trainer and always puts in effort.

Browny then said when Blair came to WT, the players did warm to him because he trained too hard and tackeled/wrestled too hard at training.

Girds said that it was interesting Blair was all effort because he thinks he's had long patches if underperforming, including at WT.

Brown said, Blair at storm had a clear job. Run a line for cronk and tackle. But at WT a second rower playing off Marshall is very different.

Said Blair then went to Broncs and was a big reason they made the GF. Meanwhile tigers still haven't made finals.

Implication was culture at WT isn't great and they don't like hard work.

Just reading your summary also implies that there is no real structure at WT - Blair had a job and given instruction on what he was to do at both Melbourne and Broncs whereas at WT running off Marshall was a lottery.

The west’s tigers signed Blair to be our X factor. Our point of difference forward.
We already had two very solid backrowers in Ellis and Heighnington. So with what the recruitment team saw from Blair in Melbourne in how he responded off runs from Cooper and Smith and providing offloads to billy we saw that being able to replicated off Marshall, Farah and to a lesser extent Lui and Moltzen.
What I believe Browny is highlighting is Blair is a player that craves structure and direction and hence he didn’t do well to the just run when you get the ball off whatever Marshall creates for you.

Lol, fair enough but I always liked Beau. I remember his last season with us was his best, seemed like he was just hitting his straps and playing consistently well then we decided to punt him.
