OFFICIAL Bryce Gibbs [Discussion]

I hope we see posts like this all year, I think Gibbs was let go more because he has struggled with niggling injuries for the past few seasons rather than any other reason & deserves a bit of luck go his way.

I'm sure he won't let Cronulla down, but can I get a team list of the Manly side that ran out? It was a fairly lopsided scoreline, and I'm willing to bet that Manly didn't run out an A-List side… Even if they did, that's no gauge on how they will perform...

Full strength…..dont make excuses for Manly . Booo :bash

A manly fans reaction to last nights loss of a trial game

That Manly clown that hassled the poor lady at the Sharks better not get to cocky If you are getting beaten by the Sharks by 30 plus( Yes, I do realize it was only a trial) He might get a special delivery at the end of season . Something wooden in the shape of a spoon

I read the RLW article this week with the interview on him moving to the sharks. It was really sad the way that it sounded he got treated at the Tigers.

Does anyone know the full story? Bryce was a loyal club man and shouldn't have been treated poorly.

Bryce was another victim of the Fonz betrayal and being lied to then stabbed in the back.

Can't add any colour to that Bug?

Good, honest, hard working **journeyman**, the 21st century version of Kevin Hardwick. Let it go, just let it go

He is hardly a journeyman…if he had his way he'd be a one club man!

Journeyman ??? Do you know what a Journeyman is ???

Bryce Gibbs is 10 times the player Kevin Hardwick was.

Harsh reality of Salary-Cap football is that, eventually, teams will be forced to make decisions based on finances & not talent or loyalty.

I'm pretty sure that, if you take away the Salary Cap, Bryce would be a 'Tiger for Life'. Unfortunately, this won't be the case.

Simple fact is, when it came down to number crunching, the Tigers had too many players on the books on contracts above the average. You can point to any number of reasons as to how it happens, but for me, it's due to the large success of the progression of junior players into senior players at roughly the same time (Gibbs, Fulton, Marshall, Farah, Lawrence etc) coupled with the clubs desire to become 'The New Manchester United' by signing promising players that developed alongside the juniors as well as bigger name signings along the way (Galloway, Ellis, Blair etc).

In the end, I guess I hope that management has learned how to play Salary Cap football a little better, so that we don't have too many 2011's where midway through the year we need to start shipping players out on masse, in order to stay under the cap.

Best prop we have ever had.

Yeah you might be right Bug ,but as Troy said he has had problems with both knees and things won't get any easier for him as he gets older

Don't get me wrong he is still the best in the NRL in regards to his defensive line speed , but with two knees not at 100% he will struggle for a whole season with consistancy

Was down at Bundeena yesterday and saw Bryce in the surf… sampling the delights of the Shire I guess... There's worse places to be playing your footy (though playing for the Sharks.. hmm). As Sheens said, its not like they are being sent to siberia to play. I guess you can't keep them all, but it will be strange seeing him out of tigers colours.

Sheens is quick to flick high performers for his own personal benefit. He himself, as a low performer should have been flicked years ago !!

I will miss him and it is sad that he has gone, however it was his choice. He could have stayed and be paid.

That said, out of the current crop of AVAILABLE coaches, who would be your choice to run the show, Bug? I'm not sure there is too much out there available at the minute.

I think we would have kept Bryce if it wasn't for his knee issues.

Sometime in business and in football you have to make tough decisions, if we didn't make tough decisions we would quickly go back to being the Wests and Balmain of the 1990's (and some would like that I know).

But I remember feeling, even in the first couple of years of the WT's that I would just love to see them play in the finals, now we have one of the best three rosters in the comp - someone within the organisation must be making more right decisions than wrong?

You are right,we have been in the top 4 the last 2 seasons,we are looking at another top 4 season,we are going alright,we can't keep them all and bring in new players.

Yes, sorry I'd forgotten that Bryce was a permanent fixture in every rep side from the middle ofthe decade

An honest J man, nothing more, nothing less. Excellent defensive player for sure, but few skills with the ball and an ineffective metre maker

Perhaps Sheens was to blame for his lack of development? lol

By the by gents, the word 'journeyman' is not limited to those who've spent time at several clubs, it also refers to players who's skill set is limited. They exist in tennis and golf as well, the term's not limited to RL
