Just to follow on from another thread where I started a bit of a tangent.

I'm a fairly keen bushwalker, and take full advantage that I live in the mountains.

Does anyone else come up here for walks, or if you don't, what are some good nature walks around your areas?

My favourites up here are the South Lawson Waterfall track, it's a state park so you can take your leashed dog with you if you wish and it's a fairly easy walk and quite picturesque, Empire Pass which is a longer and more strenuous walk, but takes you deeper into the bush and can give you some quite nice pictures at the bottom of the pass. Some really nice waterfalls along the way with Dante's Glen, Fairy Falls & St. Michaels Falls. Also cannot go past Wentworth Falls. The National Pass track (which is about 4 hours long,) takes you to the base of the falls and it's a really nice spot to stop and be alone with your thoughts.

I hear there's some amazing walks up around Coffs Harbour as well. Anyone from that area able to share some of the walks they take up there?

I’ve done a few south coast ones…

Wodi Wodi Track and Sublime Point are medium to hard - can definitely test your fitness if you don’t exercise much

Macquarie pass (before Robertson/Bowral) has some nice bush walks into waterfalls aswell.

Then you have the Mt Kembla and Mt Keira trails etc.

Shipley plateau Blackheath..
Ultimate scenic session

My mum grew up near there. Need to venture more up that way. I'm more likely to walk local (WWF, Lawson, Hazelbrook.)

Did take the very touristy walk down to Govett's Leap lookout. That's a very impressive lookout. Looks all the way up the Grose Valley.

We were stuck on a ledge for 5 hours until we came round and crawled out on hands and knees ?

Mt Solitary K-town is an epic 3 day adventure as well

Victory track at faulconbridge will take you all the way to Glenbrook national park

To do it one day though you’ll need a bmx

Love the Blue Mountain bush walks. Always enjoyable. Don't get to do them much these days.

C.B. if you can get out and about after this covid crap dissappears, you should have a look around my area the Southern Highlands...Moss Vale .Bowral Mittagong have some great surrounds which include Morton national park as well as the Fitzroy Falls areas...Many years ago I walked the Fitzroy Falls tracks and went all the way down to the bottom of the falls, getting back up was a fair hike but not impossible or difficult if you take your time...hope you do visit in the near future, you are always welcome and I dont think you will be disappointed....cheers...

If you want a solid, overnight walk, do Carey's Peak in the Barrington Tops. You need to be in reasonable shape and well protected against the cold. It snowed on the peak the weekend we did it.

I read your advice on the Merrill Moab walking shoe. Great selection. I use the Goretex shoe boot. Tried and tested on the Kokoda and Blackcat Tracks. They operate well when never dry.

As for walking tracks, I recommend the Karloo track and pools in the Royal National Park. Just watch out for the hire boats because they can catch you unawares especially in summer!

Used to camp at Burning Palms when we were 14 - 15. Walk down from the rangers hut was fairly easy but somtimes th parents couldn't pick us so did the Coast track through the Palm Jungle to Otford to get the train - a killer of a walk that would no doubt give me a heart attack now.
Got lost once and ended up at a colliery junction. Had to get the signalman to phone the station to stop the train for us (pre-electrification days).

Many years ago my dad had to do a south coast run for work on a weekend. I went with him to keep him company. Drove through the Southern Highlands and did Roo Valley and Fitzroy Falls. Stopped just outside Fitzroy Falls and went for a bit of a skulk. I'm reminded of it when I do walks up here now.

I always trained for New Guinea down and up on the Hell Hole track with pack filled with old yellow pages telephone books. The bonus of course is my girlfriend would meet me and we would go together to Werong.

One of the blokes on one trip had a leech attach itself to the eye of his penis. You could see the ground moving with them on top of Mt Bellamy. Salt is your best friend.

Traumatised for the day.

Great Thread

I have some Georges River National Park bushland 100 M away from me where I live. There is nothing like a quick wander amongst the trees.

The Family try to get to the Royal National out Sutherland way, There is a ton to appreciate about living round here.
