Probably why once a series is won the shield should be presented

NSW should of had the right to celebrate their win and send Gallen off to the glue factory

Agree the trophy needs to be awarded when it's won

Yep, and don't play dead rubbers.

And how many millions will it cost the game in regards to the FTA deal Gary

SOO is the Jewel in the crown as far as TV ratings are concerned , you risk taking 33% of those TV ratings away every series

It could cost the game many , many millions of $$$'s , that would be the problem

Any revenue lost on SOO could be partially recovered through the NRL deal (ie: possibility of one more round having all top players available for clubs relative to current situation).

In any case, if the revenue from SOO is such that losing one match would destroy the bottom line of the game, then the game has a massive issue.

You could probably group a lot of the senior Qlders in that category. Always complaining about a lack of respect but carrying on like pork chops after a win or try.

At one stage in the game Smith continued to argue a bunker decision for far to long in the game with the ref, it amazes me why the refs continue to let players especially Smith get away with this. The Ref needed to convey the decision and then send him away. Sin Bin them and see how long they want to stand around argueing

I suppose playing for QLD and the Storm, Smith doesn't taste defeat to often so he has not learnt the art of being humble.
Although what ever you think of Smith he is a champion player so I guess he can say what he wants, its not like he has to please anyone

To be honest SC, i think of him more along the lines of a smart grubby player, that hides his dirty tactics on the field very well most of the time. The team around him in Melbourne, Origin and the Australian side, make him look better then he really is imo.
The media's love affair and build up of him as a god like figure has alot to answer for.
Add hypocrite to that list as well.

Sorry TM but it is a split hair between Thurston and Smith as to who is the best player currently in Rugby League

And probably a distance to the next player

Like Smith or hate him he is still a great player

Ask Fade To Black , probably one of Smith's biggest haters on the Forum , but he would be the first bloke he picks in his Fantasy League team and makes him (C) to boot

Smith is a great player but IMHO Thurston is well ahead of him. If I had to pick one player to build a team around it'd be JT everytime.

But that was a real bad call

For the player to be on side he should not have taken even one footstep towards the ball not taken a possible defender out of the play

Even Fittler acknowledged that one

Who refs can get calls like that on the biggest stage wrong isn't good

NSW won and I don't want to take away from the game or their victory , but the video ref needs to be severely reprimanded for that

And before someone says they had it right , my son's Under 12 coach is the rugby league referee's boss of the GRL and a NSW supporter and he said it was the wrong call

You can run forward, but you must be "passive" in the play. He wasn't passive.

Classic Cam Smtih comment
" I have never played in a game with a penalty count like that "
I bet you havnt !

He's full of it

Smith is a dirty nappy of a human being. The arrogance of the knob knows no end.
Perhaps it hasn't occurred to him that some opposition players really have no respect for him, I'd bet there are a few players who feel that he is lucky to still be in the NRL after the cheating that he and his purple buddies were caught out doing.
He's not really a likeable bloke so he shouldn't be too surprised that some players don't think too much of him.

No time for him at all but acknowledge he is a great player.

One of the best? Not sure, but I do think he is the best ruck defender going around. How he can continually get stuck to the ball carrier until getting back to marker and virtually NEVER get spoken to about it simply amazes me. He has the refs measure, for sure.

Has to be one of the fittest players in the modern game. Came into first grade in 03 and has never had a serious injury.

If the topic is about Cam Smith then like him or not, he is arguably the best hooker to ever play the game and probably the most influential player/captain the game has seen since Lockyer.

If the topic is about NSW walking off then to be quite honest it was pretty pathetic. It doesn't matter what QLD'ers did previously. It doesn't matter if they hate Cam Smith. It showed zero class.
It reflects badly on the players, the coach and the state. Daley, Gallen and the rest should hang their heads in shame. A wonderful spectacle reduced to school yard immaturity.

People on here saying that QLD aren't used to losing a game, well NSW should be used to losing a series and by now should have learned the gracious way to behave in this situation. It was embarrassing.

Well said Tigermama,
Smart grub player he is, would also love to see how he would go surrounded by average players, not too good I think.

couldnt agree more bigsirro.

spectators at all junior sport are encouraged to be good sports and model correct behaviour to children.
may not have been a huge issue, but heaps of kids watch and mimic what origin
players do.
wouldnt have hurt them to have stood there for a few minutes and been polite.

He's probably never played as a Hooker, he's a Dummy Half!

I know this will appear pedantic bigsiro, but can I suggest you re-word your assessment of Smith to read: "he is arguably the best dummy-half to play in the modern era", which I would agree with.

You can't compare hookers who had to win the ball, to a dummy half. And besides, if Smith, with his skill-set played in the old days, he wouldn't play hooker - probably in the halves.

If you recall Cameron Smith did a lot of the thanking when he first went on the stage. Surely the NRL has PRs in place to let the players know the order of the official part of the evening The whole thing seems like a rabble with no one aware of what is going on.
I blame the NRL for that it's their game to promote and it should be more organized.

Easy solution…let them fight and they wont carry on with this type of crap.

The most sensible suggestion I've read in a long time. 90% of punches are air swings anyway and it helps let off steam. In addition, who wouldn't love to see Cam Smith with a solid right landing on his chin?

Personally I would love seeing Andrew Fifita getting his head punched in.

NSW still has the biggest grub in the NRL. Andrew Fifita. There is no bigger Grub, Cat, Lowie I have ever seen. The hatred I have for this mutant has no bounds.

Similar thing happened a few yrs ago when Matt King had a sulk and walked off without shaking hands cos he said he was sick of losing. Low class. Contrast that with something i saw in the AFL around about the same time. I was watching a Richmond v Essondon game, and there was only a point in it, and Matthew Richardson (Richmond Captain) was denied an obvious free kick right at the end that would have won the game. When the siren went and they lost he threw his mouthguard down in disgust and let out some expletives. At that exact moment a Bombers player held out his hand and Richardson's demenour did a complete a 360 and he shook his hand and said good game.

I think it stems from Gallen. The guy is a complete and utter sook. NSW can only improve without that drug cheat.

Great player…

Grub ... Sooky la la when he can't control a game....

I don't think Fifita is a grub.
He fits more into the 'idiot' category.
