Interested to hear opinions on today's Campbelltown experience. Two points which really annoyed me
1\. We got to the ground at 11.40 to be faced by huge queues to get in. Missed the first 15 mins of Toyota Cup - not happy Jan, This is may be the NRL's fault - who decided what time to open the gates?
2\. We had seats in Bay 4 of the grandstand and it seems as tho the seating has been modelled on a sardine can. I've never been to a ground which had squashier seating. I'm only 5' tall and my knees were only about 6" from the seat in front.
All in all a very disappointing day - about to open a bottle of wine 😢
 
I think they need more people in the ticket booth, when I got there there was only one window open.
 
Its a below par ground and 8mil hasnt changed anything for supporters. The media,players and corporates may be better of but the joint is still decades behind other grounds that we could use.
 
The quality of the Tigers play may have contributed to the atmosphere.
How can you be enthusiastic when your team is playing like …....... (deleted).
The ground is OK, but it is just another suburban ground.

The atmosphere at the ground wasn't great. We were very quiet for a Tigers game at Campbelltown. Totally agree with Long Distance Tiger. I missed most of the first half of the U20s after being there 20 mins before gates opened. The gates then opened and no one moved for 15 minutes.
 
I think the problem may have been related to the fact that ALL junior kids with NRL passes were told to be at the ground before 12:30 to gain entry otherwise their passes would not give them access….

When i got there at 1pm i walked straight in, although i did pre-purchase my tickets..

As for the atmosphere, it wasnt great, although when the chant went up at times it was loud.. As someone mentioned earlier though, its hard to get enthusiastic about a game(not just the Tigers) which was as poor quality as it was...
 
What was with the new rule that you couldn't take in any commerical prepared food (Maccas, Subway, Red Rooster, Hungarys Jacks and Fish & Chips from down the road) into the ground? Had to eat just inside the gates. Did anyone see any signs showing this? I didn't see any.

Really! They must want you to pay big $$$ to buy food inside the ground.

Agreed with both points - on the western side they only had one half of the entrance at the gates open (only one of the two roller doors was open if that makes sense)

Also, the queues for food at the kiosk in the western stand were unlike anything I'd ever seen at Campbelltown or Leichhardt…seemed to be a new group of people involved - and of course the prices have gone up again this year

Meanwhile, the audio system broke down in the lead-up to kickoff (as seems to happen consistently at both grounds) and I'd say the scoreboard had the wrong score for around half the match (what is it with Campbelltown and scoreboards? :question: )

Hopefully its just teething problems, and issues will be rectified for our remaining home games at both grounds

Just Subway! People couldn't even take in Drink cups from those places into the ground.
 
Hadley could not call the game there as Telstra had no outlet you now telephone plug!..good building company that one .Good thing to forget in broadcast box.
 
I thought the atmosphere was pretty good.

I think what they need to do is have the ticket booths on the Western side like the Eastern side in that, you purchase a ticket at the booth and walk straight in, not purchase a ticket at the booth, then walk around and scan your ticket.
If they arent going to do that, then they need more booth's and a wider entrance area.

I think more shelter is needed on the Eastern side and even just have some shade-cloth on the grass banks to make things more enjoyable for spectators.
 
Atmosphere was great. It is a small ground and there were almost 20k people.

Plenty of teething problems though. Need the entry/exit to handle a greater capacity - at the leagues club side they they had about 4 turnstyles open - that is just not on when you KNOW you are going to have a bumper crowd.

And honestly does anyone possess any business acumen? You can't make people wait 20+ minutes to get a beer at a staidum. The margin they make on grog is unbelievable, however they won't employ a few extra people to open a few extra lines.

Other than that, $8m doesn't get you much anymore. Especially when a large portion goes towards gutting the dressing rooms and improving corporate facilities.

It has been made worse….disappointing....8 mill for that....pffft

The seats are actually worse than they were before....

Still love the joint .....

What are these other grounds you speak of?

Are these grounds that the fans would be happy to call 'home'?
 
And what about the clock. Came home and watched the fox broadcast (yeah, we are masochists) and Benji's first kick at goal came at 2 min 48sec. The clock at this time read 39.59 minutes. I think the players played for at least 2 and a half extra minutes in the first half.
Also, the lights came on before half time. What the??? Beau looked straight into them when he dropped the "bomb"!!
