Can we avoid the spoon?

If they win by 1 point - you telling me - they are still last?
Unfortunately yes. As points differential goes that 77 point drubbing was not kind to us. Even if we win on Thursday and then both us and the Dragons lose every other week, we will come last.

But if we beat them by 30, we jump them. OR if we also beat, i don't know, the Roosters in Rd26 then we could come 16th! The same as last year...

Thanks Tiger Tarl. We have a chance then.

The Dragons are still currently a much classier and faster line up than what we are.
Our only hope is if ALL our forwards bring their best and run hard and tackle hard from start to finish as we do have the forwards capable of dominating them if they bring their best.

They gotta be Vicious

Nope the spoon is ours again this year. We are going to do the same again next year and with the three spoons we are going to make castanets to replace the annoying drums they had at the games last year.

I really hope we don't get the spoon but we are going to have to improve massively.
Magpies have traditionally collected 2 spoons either in consecutive seasons or within a few seasons. I haven’t looked at the Balmain spoon history, but suspect it’s probably similar.
Don’t know what to conclude from this other than it’s not easy or quick to rise from the bottom.

Our NRL comp is more of an open event than SL, where only 3 teams can win the trophy.

I hope we win back to back wooden spoons and hope that finally leads to some real changes at the club from CEO, Board and all the way down through this unprofessional organisation.

Laughing stock of the NRL and maybe with a second consecutive wooden spoon WT have reached rock bottom.

If you are not playing semi finals to me then it is a wasted season.

Like so many passion fans on this forum every season I care less and less about the WT which is sad as I love the club and love NRL.

Lucky I get to watch other quality teams play and dream one day that will be WT will be an elite club. 2005 is getting further away.

I want the spoon so something happens at the club.
If we avoid it they will be patting themselves on the back in head office.
Job done business as usual.
I would guarantee that its Pascoe and Lee's biggest goal right now. Its self preservation time.
We already have one in the cupboard and Pascoe had no qualms patting himself on the back.

We must win this week to have a chance to avoid the spoon. Losing this game would mean we need to win 3 of our last 5 which isn't happening.

I know where you are coming from and you are hoping that it would force major change at the club but i don't believe it will make any difference to the cosy boys club mentality that exists on the board which is where the problem starts from in imho.
I loathe seeing my club win wooden spoons at any time but it is the best reflection of a clubs management that you can get.Even running 16th this year is far preferable than being the first and only club to be 17th and last especially when you consider that this is the best team we have had in a decade. We are performing abysmally at all levels as a club

I suspect many people share your view, and you could be right. Continual on field failure is helping to highlight the club’s deficiencies. While more and more fans are voicing their dissatisfaction of an antiquated organisational structure void of a meritorious selection criteria and without trust and accountability as a cornerstone.
