Can we score without Teddy

On paper I give us a real chance of beating the dogs, but without Teddy are we going to be able yo score enough points. 90% of plays involve Teddy creating the space, nothing much happens in around the ruck, its all out wide. Not sure if Rankin or Hunt will have any impact, obviously time will tell but it would be nice to know that we were not a one trick pony side

Don't think we are a one trick pony but if we get on top of dogs pack we can win this game. We have some good finishers out wide and Rankin has gone OK out the back as well.

If Hunt plays fullback I reckon we can score plenty. If you've watched his game over the last few weeks (albeit against reverse graders) he plays almost identical to Teddy, always in and around the ball, setting up tries, breaking tackles and isn't a slow poke either

Haven't seen much of Rankin at FB to judge but I'd just leave him where he's been solid all year.

Either Hunt or Rankin would go alright at the back I think, they're not bad depth. Rankin offers more ball playing but Hunt is faster and goes harder with the ball in the hand. If we have Brooks and Moses in the halves we might be better going with Hunt for his running game, particularly his kick returns (he has no regard for his own safety on kick returns).

This, I have said the same thing before, Hunt plays a lot like Teddy and would not cause a great disruption, Rankin on the other hand plays completely different and lacks the speed to suit our game.
So Taylor will select Rankin at fullback, because he decided this months ago, he is unwilling or unable to change his mind. 😢

I also reckon Hunt should be at 1\. It's less disruption to the team plus it gives him a go in the top grade. Maybe he is a better winger than Rankin.

For the people wishing Hunt to play number 1

I 100% agree but the bad thing is that Taylor has made his mind up that Rankin will be the fullback while Tedesco is playing origin (which he will be in game 2and 3) or injured so we'll see either Hunt/Ado-Carr come in at wing

Hunt is a better Fullback than wing, I remember last year before he signed for us he played at wing for dragons a few times and no one recongised him and then Dugan was a late withdrawal for one game and everyone tipped against the Dragons. They put Hunt at fullback and he played amazinginly well and they ended up winning then when Dugan came back they shifted Hunt back to wing because they wanted to keep him in the starting 17 and he wasen't given the space he needs to be succesfull the only good thing Hunt can do at wing is his kick returns he's very dangerous at that.

I suppose they will both be in the team, but Taylor said months ago he had penciled Rankin as the no1 shadow, so JT tends to keep his word. Anyway who ever gets the gig has massive shoes to fill

Hunt has been training at 1 since the return of the rep players…..We also maybe without Teddy for less than 1st thought....fingers crossed...

We have points in us without Teddy...whether it's enough is the Question....

This game will be won in the forwards..

This will be test of Taylor playing Rankin out of position all season so he can move into the #1 role without too much disruption to calls and plays…

If it works we'll put points on. Especially if Rankin has the energy he played with against Souths.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Hunt has more pace than Rankin. I actually think it's more important these days for a fullback to be quicker than a winger.

I did think of saying something about that at the time but I thought it might have been a bit harsh in the week he retired

We will miss Tedesco, however it might make us a little harder to defend in some respects as we will be less predictable with us forced to go through other avenues.
