Can we trust this team and coach going forward?

To be fair i think we have over achieved this year. If we take our tigers glasses off and look at our squad we are pretty poor and behind most other clubs. I think we have been very lucky with the draw this year as we have been playing teams short on numbers or down on form. The cowboys game was the only game that we played well and beat a team with their full playing roster. Looks like we will finish between 10-12 which is higher than i thought at the start of the year. Some tough decisions need to be made before we are any chance of the semi's.

The fact that the team needs to make 3 positional changes to ensure Farah is not in the team is bemusing. I couldn't care less if Farah was not in the team.. if the person replacing him was actually a hooker.

The fact that when Dene goes off… Rankin goes to hooker, and then Simona moves out to wing and Lawrence to centre (Where his best days are past) and then a new second rower in is absolutely ridiculous. We got away with it against Parra and the Dragons, but I feel we were really found out by that fact tonight and against GC. This comes back to the feud and the loggerheads at which Farah and Taylor are. Taylor, a former FG player and now coach... should well and truly know, making significant positional changes during a game, ruins cohesiveness and balance in the side. This is his decision pure and simple. Worked for a week or two but has really come back to bite him squarely on the ass the past couple of weeks. This ego driven move has cost the tigers massively IMO. No other coach would do something so drastic to ensure that specific players are not in the team. If you wanna hook him, fine no worries, but do replace him with a Hooker... not bit part players and shuffle 4 blokes to ensure it "works". Therefore I believe, that we cannot continue with Taylor... yeah boys are behind him, but his decision making and team selections are poor and quite juvenile.

Tiger Tim this year has been ok overall. I said 11th at the start of the year and that is exactly where i think we will finish.

My worry is that a performance like that should not be happening at this stage of our progression as a team.

For me it shows something is not quite right. Whether it be players, coaches or whatever. We need to address it heading into next year. You can't be that awful with your season to play for.

We have over achieved this year however for me it's because of the vast improvement of Moses and Tedesco.
I don't think Taylor has done that bad of a job however, We need some more class. Rankin, Lovett, Edwards, JAC have to be replaced by seasoned first graders.
If WT can get a Cleary, Hassler, Macguire, Belkamy etc then change the coach. I'd stick with Taylor over a rookie or unproven commodity.

I disagree we've overachieved.
We have a talented, enthusiastic, fast squad who on their day can match it with everyone.
That has been proven a few times this year.

We have underachieved due to the coaching staff not fixing the defence as promised, the selection panel refusing to play specialists in every position, the coach refusing to work with our most experienced player and some poorly timed injuries.

I don't see anyone saying we just have to turn up.

I see people saying if we can keep building on our good performances then we should be heading in the right direction… As always though... Consistency, we have none.
As for trust.... Well the bookies have trusted our opponents the last two weeks and have got it right

My mistake was thinking about the Cowboys game before we ended up $3.50 at kick off was a brief highlight for me this year

With Farah and Tedesco out our 2 best as i said last night we won't win another gamer this year.
The 3 wins ending with Nth Qld were good but allowed JT to reinforce faulty ideas . The reality is probably all top 10 teams would have won those because the opposing tams were so poor. The Cowboys win didn't impress me much. Thoght the Cowboys were real poor and backed it up against Easts.
Anyways it was an improving year which kept the interest up all year so thats a positive but going forward we loose Farah still one of the best no 9s and his replacement Halatau and the fill in 9 Rankin most probably still with the worst goal kicker in the competition and still no improvement in our cap.

i wanna hear of some sacking news tomorrow and Farah reinstated into the team

Sadly will be the same 17 picked this week. Taylor can't seem to see any faults in players apart from one. You live by the sword and you die by the sword.

Taylor deserves another year. Although he has done no better then Potter.

However people unsurprisingly have missed my point!

My question was more around can you trust them next year if this is what they serve up in such an important game.

Yes. The fact we have got this close to the 8 with the salary cap handbrake still applied says something. A couple more restraints are released in the off season and the lessons learned from the past couple of seasons start to translate into success.

Unbelievable how the JT haters want him gone ….can they not see the cost of doing that, and will his replacement do any better,I doubt it,the best news I heard today was Kidwell is going,he has been the defensive coach,JT at least has got the team heading in the right direction with a much improved Moses in the side,we were bordering on the 8,not floundering at the bottom of the ladder, but hey, let's get rid of the coach once again....geez I reckon Paws must be RF....

Has JT improved the team that he took to 15th last year or has some superstarts coming off age made us look much better then we are. For me JT's mantra has always been about defence. With games still to be played but we are currently second last in defence, behind only newcastle. We have wonderful natural talent to attack from anywhere. If the players are really buying into JT, then i reckon you would see us much better defensively. Today our season was on the line. We had all to play for. Id be happy to cop a loss if there was effort there. But not moving up, missing tackles under 8's could make and having absolutely no idea in defence reads is to me a poor reflection on the coach. With fArah all but gone next year, time for a fresh start, or another year will be wasted.

Anyone who thinks this is solely on the coach, and that we have a good roster, is kidding themselves.

We have 2 class players in Tedesco and Woods, then the emerging hot/cold talent of Moses. Brooks may end up being a decent FGer but he's not showing to me any signs of dominating/controlling a game.

The rest of the players, every single one of them, are honest but lacking star quality. Yeah Jesse Sue is tough and has good do forward, but his lateral defence is shocking. Yes Noffa is a tackle-bust machine but he has appalling hands and makes bad defensive decisions. Yeah Rankin can cover many positions, but none of them well.

We have an average roster and I challenge that many of these blokes would be fringe FGers at other clubs. It's not enough to put in 7 or 8 good performances per season, that will not get you into the finals.

Eddie has a point - if the team cannot get up for the most vital games, how can we have faith in future seasons? But that includes coach and players, because a lot of what I hear from the coach is accurate (whether or not he can implement behind-the-scenes we will not know).

And I'm not talking about a loss in an important game - those are 50/50 for evenly-matched teams. I am talking about a team blown off the park inside 30 mins when the season is on the line, letting old-timer dummy halves stroll over under the posts.

JT's whole mantra coming in to the club was defence, defence, defence.

He wanted to be judged on that.\\Now maybe sacking Kidwell is good. However he also sacked all his assitants last year.

Results like tonight worry me were we simply have no idea how to tackle, or win contests or anything.

I start to lose faith in this project Taylor is selling us.

Maybe its just a bad week but i maintain its a worry when you can play THAT BADLY when its high stakes.

They got it right tonight too
Not sure of the exact amount shown before the game, but it was over $3

It's a fair question.
To turn up like they did tonight, in the biggest game of their season, and just sit back and get blown away - that's an issue. Penrith are a good side when on song, but we let them walk all over us and score 6 incredibly soft tries (I'll let them have the first one). With everything on the line, that's just not good enough.
We need to set high standards at this club and performances like tonight tell me there's still a hell of a long way to go in terms of building a winning culture.
There's been some good signs this season, but still so many bad ones. We're a mile away from the promised top 4 team in 2017 with the squad and coaching staff in its current guise.

A couple of weeks ago, I gave Taylor credit for his share of the win against the Cows, despite the fact that I think that he's useless as a Coach.
But he has to take his share of the blame for his part over the last two games, e.g,
Playing around with positions and selections. And not having the team ready to play.

Gallagher that is the most limp reply of all time.

Talking about our home grounds as a reason were playing like garbage at Penrith.

Cmon mate surely you got something better than that for me

Only money is gonna turn the club around. It all starts and ends there.
