Captain my Captain..2017...

An old article, but sums up the man – Captain material right there.
Shame some other players didn't follow in his footsteps.

As the title states does Ivan have the right to remove Woods & name a new captain ?

ET / Rowdy !!

This would really throw a cat amongst the pigeons but it'd show his not mucking around either

Of course he does.

I think he will too. Even if Woods stays i think Cleary will point out the positives to Aaron about giving it away. At the very least he will name a co-captain.

Cleary can appoint captain whoever he wishes, however, Lawrence should not be there as player any more (sad but true, he is arguably the worst 2nd rower in NRL) and consequently he should be as far from captaincy as Fitzhenry or 'Cronk' Morris :sign:

If we have someone in our team that says my manager was taking to long with my contract negotiations so I took care of them myself, as opposed to someone that is already the captain who is acting anything like a captain, then it is a no brainer for me. If we are going to change the culture of this club, then the tough calls are gotta be made. ET 4 ME!

Got it in one

Et took his time in re-signing when he was off contract.

He didn't take 6 months. And he said himself that he was getting sick of it dragging on and got it sorted himself. Pity our "captain" doesn't have the same attitude.

Damn straight coach should name whatever captain he wants. Nobody has a mortgage on any position, especially captain. It's a position that you earn through hard work and respect, not by dragging situations on and on that reflect both poorly on the club and your person…..

Haven't once through all of this garbage over the last few months heard Woods say that the captaincy of our club means anything to him whatsoever. That in itself says a hell of a lot.

ET also owes our club nothing

I think a lot of the time that ET took was due to the cap being sorted out.

As is the case with most players off-contract ATM. There is still no definitive answer from the NRL about what the cap is going to be…...clubs and players are up in the air so don't really want to commit to anything until it is sorted out.
I'm very surprised that the RLPA haven't threatened the NRL with forfeiting matches unless this situation with the cap is sorted out to force their hand.

I believe ET will be our captain next year… (Or sooner if woods signs elsewhere).... But Cleary is smart, he won't come in and start chopping and changing everything... Slowly slowly you will see the team start to mould whichever way he likes...

As for woods, He isn't ready to captain a side yet... Bloke doesn't even know how to speak to media.
