Carter sacked by the Titans

yes he was one of the titans best this year, but no point asking could he come to us as we have been told NO NEW SIGNINGS. ALSO THE DO GOODERS WOULD SCREAM THE HOUSE DOWN I GUESS.

I agree with bp tiger what's the point of debating should we ,is he…
Taylor stated no signings until 2017

Hes been plating mostly backrow off the bench hasnt he? Would be a good pickup for some club. But tigers dont tend to go for the bad boys.

There have been a lot of bad boys put off contract recently. It certainly has become a trend. One exception however is another repeater offender named Bird who also plays for the Titans. One rule for all?

oh the irony

i dont think he's just a hooker or a backrower.. first and foremost he's a footballer and a good one.

Yes he is a repeat offender but these are the situation s when you get a player cheaper than his usual value. Cap wise a chance to get a bargain. Not saying we jump at all these players but sometimes a wake up call like a sacking can do wonders (sometimes not ). Dugan seems to have turned his career around , recently anyway.

Anyone taking bets on how long till we get a ''should we sign Paul Carter?'' thread? I'll say 10 mins

I thought this was it… 😕

Its in the general rugby league section, only mentioning he's been sacked. Nothing in the OP suggests we should sign him, just reporting his sacking.

Have you read any of the posts since the OP…

The creation of this thread immediately implies a discussion of "should we sign Paul Carter?"

Why else would a thread be created for the sacking of a rookie?

i agree. ive seen him play a few times and he is hard as nails. i really rate him and think whoever picks him up will get a quality player; the question mark hangs over the off field category as said before.

in any case, albeit a very dangerous and stupid thing to do, mid range drink driving (whilst under suspension to boot) is not glassing your girlfriend or beating your pregnant wife (paraphrasing the latter) and for indiscretions such as this one i don't see any problem with signing a player like Carter under very strict conditions.

i think an approach like "sign for a bargain, one wrong move and you're out" is an appropriate one. maybe even a probation period like yilleen gordon was on? that was only a very minor indiscretion and he was shown the door…

James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. (born October 1, 1924) is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981\. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.

Pardon me, i thought for a second you were talkin about this guy.

Lol…. Life must be good there in the bustling, exciting and charming Ho Chi Minh City, AH. One of my favourite cities to spend time in.

On the field he is always in trouble with the refs, off the field he seems to also have trouble with the officals.

He is a goer, but I am not sure he is better than what we already have. Save up big and buy quality

Well there was a few reasons I started this thread

Firstly Bird has been done for two drinking offences since he has joined the Titans one as recently as last week yet he only lost the captaincy and a 15 k fine

Secondly , I wonder if the NRL will allow any club to resign him

Thirdly ,as I said in this thread I don't think we need him , if we want to push a player through lets push Manaia Cherrington through and play Robbie at lock for short stints and play teams very direct out of dummy half late in halves

Good young player , best at hooker , son of Steve Carter former Penrith player from the 1990's and early 2000's

He is a star and tough as guts, which is why some mob like the Roosters have probably already made him an offer.

I'm a fan and think he will go a long way because of his style, but dont see any reason to sign him with the amount of backrowers [similar ability/quality/experience] currently at the club…
