CENTRAL COAST CONNECTION / PRESENCE

I think the Wests Tigers should utilise this area, taking some home games away from ANZ and having them (when possible & appropriate) at Central Coast stadium (formely known as Blue Tongue). It has a capacity of just over 20k and has sold out in full in the past when NRL games have been played there.

I know the tigers have a strong fan base on the coast - whenever I visit there I see people wearing merch, jerseys, etc. We have users on this forum from the area (who I hope will share their thoughts on this matter). I know us fans from Newcastle would happily make the 1-hour or so odd drive down for the game.

Watching our under 20s game today - it seems we have a few players from the Central Coast catchment area in the team, so I dare-say the scouts and recruiters are watching the Coast leagues closely.

Luke Sharpe (Wyong Roos)
Daniel Peck (Toukley Hawks)
Jacob Giles (Toukley Hawks)
and our future #9 - Jacob Liddle (Wyong Roos)

Can't forget earlier this year we sent a squad to play at the Jason Annear Memorial Rugby League Nines tournament at Berkeley Vale Oval which we ultimately we ended up winning.

As we've seen with Penrith taking games to Bathurst - I think this is a way the club could really stamp their presence on the area, making it a second home so to speak. It's only going to be positives in the end - perhaps more sponsorships from Central Coast businesses (TPAs!), more fans, more memberships, the list goes on. Let's face it… "The Central Coast Bears" is not going to happen anytime soon so we should really get in early and show the 300-odd thousand residents that we're the club they should support.

Consider it Keebra Park 2.0 where all the best players from the area want to play for the tigers and can get their chance (as seen by the 4 players playing today).

Anyways, just and idea - massive oppurtunity in my opinion.
What are your thoughts?

TL;DR
SHOUT OUT TO CENTRAL COAST GOLDEN BOY: TIM MOLTZEN

i like the idea but we've got enough grounds lol

Taking 1 or 2 games away from ANZ a year….
Couldn't hurt that much, could it?

TIGERS VS MANLY
TIGERS VS ROOSTERS

= Would sell out on the coast for sure IMO

Sorry Demps but bad teams don't/have never sold out grounds in the NRL. Even good ones struggle to do that. I know when I was up there a couple of years ago for a wedding in Terrigal I saw a few tigers jerseys, but I'm not convinced at all.

Not if it means losing 100+k we get for playing at ANZ

Damn straight. The only venue that this busted club makes money and people want to take games away from there? ?
Stop playing at LO and CSS first.

* Lose 100k from taking a game or two away from ANZ each year
or
* Get compensated by the NRL, Gosford council, guarantee to sell out the stadium, potentially make huge amounts of new fans, more membership, merch sales, etc. Capitalize on an untapped area that has no presence in the NRL.

- Pick one.

I bet Bathurst has a huge amount of Penrith Panthers fans and it's growing. The coast is a much bigger area than Bathurst too.

So we get 100k to play an ANZ and if we play at Central Coast stadium we'll get $nothing$?
Sounds like something that is actually ~ReAL~~ (sarcasm)

Ridiculous idea huh?
Watch the Roosters use their Wyong Roos connection and support to capitlize on this and claim the area as their own nursery.
We'll lose our next Jacob Liddle types to them.

Ridicuous idea, yeah…. I'm sure you've got some better ones Dingo?
Roosters will snap this up and this was just a suggestion for growth, something like this could assist with finances but yeah whatever, Dingo & friends are all experts on growing a brand, a business, etc....

You start a poll, get some people who vote No then admonish them for it?

BTW I voted 'No' as well

Most local fans don't want to travel up the central coast to watch a home game, heck most who live in Campbelltown don't travel to Leichardt and vice versa

I'm surprised we haven't moved a game to China or North Korea yet

Still can not believe in 2016 the central coast do not have their own NRL team. The place is wall to wall young families. If I was going to take a a couple of games a year up there I would take them out of the two suburban grounds allocation, that way we do not loose a couple of hundred grand.

Funny thing if we could ever get a team that is up there with the big boys we would never have these discussions as we would attract big crowds to our suburban grounds…Its all about winning

Bathurst Regional council paid $1,000,000 to Penrith for a 5 year agreement to play games at Bathurst.
The council is about to start on a $6 million upgrade of their oval.
It's great for us locals to get to see a NRL match in town it also brings in a lot of tourist dollars to town.
Plus it is increasing the Panthers supporter base here.
Maybe the Tigers could do the same with the Central coast council to get a bit more cash and supporters.

Point 1 is a fact, point 2 is hypothetical.
I don't think anyone would be against such a move if there was a good ROI, but it all seems a but wishful thinking tbh. WT have done it in the past and ended the relationship, so I assume the club wasn't really getting much out of it.
Several teams already take games to Gosford each season - what are they getting out of it?

Some real downers in this thread.
Fans against growth and building the fanbase, brand and business.

I don't know who's worse now, our club or the fans - depressing, weak minded bunch.

Vote no on growth as a club, fanbase, brand, etc.

@Bathursttiger, good post.
