Centre of excellence hopes for Macarthur

jirskyr, Liverpool is a hell of a lot closer to Ctwon then it is to Belmore

Actually, as the crow flies Liverpool Station is 15 km from Belmore Station, but 18 km from Campbelltown Station. Google maps rates these road trips as 21.7 km (20 mins) and 22.1 km (22 mins) respectively.

The point I am making is that areas generally (mentally) associated with certain clubs / junior feeder areas are in reality just as close to a number of other districts.

Junior rugby league territories are, after all, somewhat arbitrary. My high school played in the St George district even though we were only 3 km from Leichhardt Oval and our local weekend teams were in Balmain.

It all boils down to infrastructure vs. the ability to fulfill the potential of the resource. I am all for the financial and structural investment in the region but am not so sure we have the ability to make it worth our while. To reap full reward there would have to be a complete and conscientious effort into supporting the local juniors and development/representative squads, also efforts made to develop relationships with schools and colleges with strong League programs.

Its more than just a building and machinery, it has to be an investment across the board. Some may see it as anti merge, but to split the Tigers and Magpies back up at the development level could see us hedge our bets on upcoming talent, yet share a facility that would hopefully be world class.
