Centres

lol… We dont have any so I'm hoping Seve or Heleta make the transition in the next 12-18 months.

I'd say Jennings is the best Centre running around today. He made Hodges look poor a couple of times in SOO this year, and that isnt easy to do considering he has always been a solid defender.

The game has changed alot in the past 3 years. Centre is one of the hardest positions on the paddock these days finding the balance between defence and attack isnt as simple as you think.

If I had to name a Top 5, it would be in this order:

Jennings
Ferguson
Chambers
Walker
Morris

Out of that 5, 2 are probably better known as defensive centres while the other 3 can tear apart most teams on there day.

Who knows Tim Sim might have a break-out year in 2016? 😛ray:

Simona is the best try assist centre in the game….

only because he doesnt like traffic

You've really swung around on the Ipswich Jets Watto

Chris Walker at 4

Yeah, No… Although Chris was a brilliant kid growing up. Playing in Toowoomba, 4-5 Tries virtually every game.

Dylan Walker is my pic... For the life of me, I can't fathom why Souffs would consider punting him?!

I'll give you a clue but first I need to take some hillbilly heroin…

Totally disagree with Jennings.

I am sure I will get jumped on from a great height here but…

I think he is a bludger of the highest order. If the game doesn't come to him he just stands out there and gets a cold. You never see him go looking for the ball and try and take the game by the scruff of it's neck. Doesn't go looking to help out in defence much either.

He is supposedly a marquee player - don't think so. I wouldn't want to pay him what you would have to pay for him to make one run in a game and maybe score. What did he do in last Easts game to try and turn the result around. I'll tell you.... what he usually does. NOTHING.
That is not a Marquee player in my estimation.

You say he made Hodges look poor a couple of times. Maybe that is true.
Hodges was on his last legs literally and at the very end of his career - I should have thought he would make him look poor. However he should have made him look pathetic. He didn't.
Hodges is twice the centre that Jennings will ever be.

In my opinion (yes imo) Jennings is one of the most over rated players in the NRL.

We need another centre - yes. ...... We do not need a bludger.

One stryke and you're out, it seems Geo. What with Samuel coming back and all.
I wonder if Aaron, will be getting punted too?

I agree, he is lazy at times. But he always plays great against us. 😕

who doesn't rate jack reed? defensively probably the best and insanely strong close to the line. lack of speed would be his only weakness.

would have him over any of our centres ever (except chris lawrence at his absolute peak)

Ferguson made Jack Reed look pretty ordinary in defence the last time they met but overall his defence is usually pretty sound. Ferguson himself has also shown some poor defensive reads. I rate Morris highly as he is strong in all facets but is a little injury prone.

Reed is close to the worst regular center in the game. he is slow and crap. peter sterling wraps him and somehow that has tricked people into believing he is some sort of good center. everytime he plays a top line center he gets destroyed (i.e ferguson in the prelim)

Really? Because every time I've seen him play, he always puts in 100% .
He's not the fastest, but he sure makes it up in other ways.
As for him being "crap" i doubt Bennett would play him, if that was the case.
I can only dream of having him in our team.

Reeds problems that night were being caused inside him

Still , the quality of centres has dropped dramatically over the eras

Maybe Goose is right , many are changing positions pre grade

Even one era back you could find at least a dozen SOO standard centres between all the sides
