CEO - Shane Richardson

I think responding to members is quite reasonable as he’s got a personal assistant and a whole membership team to assist.

It’s their job to look after members, first and foremost. That’s what we pay them for.

Richo can rebuild the club and engage with members at the same time. In fact I think they go hand in hand.

He said he would respond to members and I’m holding him to it. Other people might not care, that’s ok, that’s for them to determine.

I said when he started that I would call him out if I thought he made mistakes.

It doesn’t mean that I dislike him or think there is anyone better, but I think this is an important issue to raise for me anyway.

Some people agree with me, but they don’t want to make it a discussion point because of perceived hostile reception aimed at them, which we should probably get away from (present company excluded!)

What is your email about? What are you asking?

Yes, I agree and a good question.

It’s about different things and member experiences.

Such as paying $94 for 2 tickets on the LO hill, the facilities there and whether or not the club thinks Benji needs help (not sacking him) as I do.

Things I think the club could do a lot better with and services to members too.

Now when people are contributing to the club or any organisation, I think they should get a meaningful response. That’s how our business operates anyway. There is enormous interest in feedback and recognition for staff who go above and beyond.

TSP, looks like you’ve asked a couple of reasonable question there, and your email is deserving of a response.
Not sure how Richo would respond, especially regarding your second question. But you should definitely get a response. Particularly after Richo’s boast regarding his commitment to communication with members.
Do you know if your email has been opened?

I know my email last month was opened because I got a response foreshadowing a response!!

I mentioned ways of increasing memberships next year and my Commbank assistance program.

And members first….not enough lead time etc.

Anyway I prompted them again yesterday so we will see.

Obviously we need him operational and we hope he’s healing well, which goes for everyone in the hospital.

“I’ve won just as many wooden spoons as I have won premierships”: Why Tigers CEO isn't worried about potential wooden spoon

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson said his attention is not on whether the club can avoid their third straight wooden spoon when they host the Parramatta Eels in Campbelltown in Round 27.
The Tigers looked destined to once again finish in last place on the ladder but back-to-back wins against the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Manly Sea Eagles has set up a final round showdown against the Eels in what has affectionately been dubbed ‘SpoonBowl.’

Richardson said the Round 26 bye is an excellent chance for the players and coaches to freshen up before their final game of the 2024 season.

“We’ve got a fair few injuries and niggles,” Richardson told SEN 1170.

“A week off will be good for us before we play in that huge clash against Parramatta.

“It will be a sell-out at Campbelltown which will be the third time that has happened this year.

“Fans always think about (the wooden spoon) and I have lived with that during my time at Penrith and also Souths.

“I don’t like to look into that sort of stuff because for us, it’s all about improving each week which I think we have done.

“If we can get another win to end the season, it will put us in a good spot for next year.

“The fans and the players can think about it but I’ve won just as many wooden spoons as I have won premierships.”

With the 2024 home and away season drawing to a close, so too is the debut coaching season of Tigers legend and NRL Hall of Fame member Benji Marshall.

Richardson admits it’s been a tough season for the first-time coach but believes the 2005 Premiership winner has what it takes to be a successful coach at the Tigers.

“He’s open to suggestions and he’s open to learning,” Richardson added.

“He wants to get better at what he’s doing. He has a thirst for knowledge and he doesn’t think he knows everything which is a great start.

“Benji has been very diligent and excellent with the young kids and giving them a start.

“He’s learnt a lot this season about what being a coach is like. You learn a lot more from losing than winning.

“He’s had his losing season this year so let’s hope he’s learnt a lot so that he can become a winner.”

The Tigers have the bye this weekend before playing the Eels on September 6.

Richo tells it like it is, these journos and chicken little supporters need to trust this bloke, not believe the press from their incompetent journo mates

Richo is a God send to us and IMO in a few years' time he will become our best signing every to date.
He does not take shit from anyone and just knows what's needed and how to close a deal.

There was a reason Souths tried to get him back..

Also sound like some signings might be coming

I hate to say it but I think I’m in love with this bloke

he doesn’t just sit around and let the media run ramped and let the fans worry he comes out and puts it to bed

previous management would have would let this sit all off season
