CEO - Shane Richardson

not getting in to a pissing match - there have been heaps on here over time say they wouldn't travel to campbelltown - you want to know who they are find them yourself - i'm not prepared to wade through hundreds o pages to please you.
I think I gave up the ghost on Ctown around 2010. The club will never see the light and entrench themselves in one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Pure insanity.

Might be a few on here a little worried about this quote from Richo -

" “I’ve always loved a Reschs and a hot dog at Leichhardt, but at the end of the day the growth of the club is in that [Campbelltown and Macarthur] area. It’s as simple as that.”
. . . . . . . and Richo would know, Souffs have been poking around in the Campbelltown and Macarthur area for a while while our geniuses neglected it for a long time.

The club has changed in the last 48 hours …. this is one of the recommendations in the review … Its just unwarranted pessimism to say “it will never happen because of 2010…”

But it cant happen until someone comes up with a plan and some Govt money to do up that crappy ground…

We live in a world where people barely leave home to go to work...
Matters very little where the club plays or is located.
Been listening to this rubbish - For literally decades....

I stand by the comment that I made then as I do now,
If there was money out there for the Football Club - We'd be there already!!
And it's not just this club, The club out there before this one was as poor as piss also...
More than once.

Inner City Stadiums pay us to play there, And the crowds / Dollars out there just haven't combated that.
We've been to SFS, ANZ, and Parra - All foreign stadiums to us chasing the coin...
The growth, the players, the Future may well be in the South West - Until the money is...
It won't make a blink of difference.

Get the club winning games, With smart operators (Something we've never had combined)
and generating good cash on the back of that...
It won't matter where we are!!

It makes no sense to me … as a former Balmain fan… to put forward an argument that the “future growth” of this club is in the inner city ….

The population demographics in the main of young families, more likely to be NRL fans( if you get my drift) and juniors are overwhelming going to come from South West Sydney ..as opposed to the inner west

Yes … this change won’t happen in the near future… like I said… the stadium needs an upgrade and I have seen no plan for this to change …so this option is still some years away…

Also… the team needs a plan to try to engage with the locals there after decades of neglect …before committing to basing the exclusively there

I have heard that this is one of the recommendations/goals put forward in the review …so Richo saying what he said is interesting timing to say the least ..

Did you watch his interview on James Grahams podcast when he said you canrt have people who have successfully business thinking that they can just run a footy club and get a spot on the board because they have a successful panel beating shop
I watch James Grahams podcast he’s a good talent. When I saw it months ago I was thinking about the Tigers.

I have been dealing with people for years coming in from out of my industry having strategies that don’t work however, it shows when you don’t have a meritocracy the wrong people get appointed for political reasons.

Tigers have been victims of allowing too many people without rugby league credentials to make rugby league decisions.

I don't disagree....

But until that translates to the bottom line - Not just fans, members, crowds and all that....
But corporate-wise.... I can't see the set up changing.

I'm not local - never been local, So the argument has never mattered to me
(I actually prefer the C'Town experience overall - Said that a heap as well)

But until the club sees some serious coin at the top from the SW,
They'll still to getting the best out of the current set up they can.

Can’t argue with this…. But I havent really seen them make much of an effort to grow the pie in Ctown…

You won’t get anything out of it until you put something into it…

Edit - also I believe when the new West Sydney airport opens in 2026… this will be a bit of a game changer for business in the general area..

Sooner or later someone with half a brain and the balls was gonna make this call. Took way too long but we got here.

mate .. its your assertion ….. not mine…

So you back it up!
I’ll back it up for you . I absolutely hate Campbelltown stadium . The atmosphere sux , it’s cold as hell , there’s no shade , the ammenities suck . And we never seem to win there . Especially when I take my kids lol
It’s not a good stadium as it is right now . It definitely needs a comm bank level knockdown rebuild .

Well.. you agree with me then…

You can’t put more than half the games there until it is upgraded …

How can argue that we never win there? We never win anywhere!

Based on the podcast, Richardson appears to think very logically.

It wouldn't surprise me if he devises a gradual plan to relocate us permanently to the West. I'm confident he will recognise the significant difference in attendance and engagement in the areas where we are currently based. It will likely involve starting by playing our bigger games at Campbelltown, then gradually increasing the number of games there each year over an extended period, say 10 years (assuming some redevelopments occur). By that time, Leichhardt Oval will either have been redeveloped according to the master plan and still be capable of hosting a game or two, or it will remain untouched, which would likely mean it cannot host NRL games. In terms of junior development, they will need to build a centre of excellence specifically for that area, which could also attract juniors from other districts to join.

We have been around for 25 years now, and we need to think about what's best for the club, not just for Balmain or the Magpies. If he decides to stay past 6 months, I'm sure he believes we should be able to achieve a stature comparable to that of Penrith, Parramatta, and the Bulldogs.

Don’t they have an affiliation with one of the schools in the Campbelltown area?

I can understand your sentiments in regard to CSS,however,a little history lesson for you,it used to be called Orana Park and was part of group 6 when Moss Vale,Bowral,Picton etc used to play against Campbelltown City,Collegians etc...
The whole place was refurbished to what it is now over many different eras..
I very much enjoy travelling there for our games when I can, however I totally agree that it needs a complete upgrade to be on the same level as the major stadiums we have...
To a lot of us older folks who remember it,it was basically a community oval,it hosted many sports over the years and I think it was refurbished and renamed when the Maggies played out of there, not sure but its a long time ago for me...

It's the logical plan.
Move us permanently to Campbelltown then maybe change the logo to something the locals can relate to.
Maybe a species of the local birdlife.
Something like a Magpie would be good.
I read a post the other day which said Justin Pascoe had secured funding for a COE at Campbelltown. Is anyone in a position to confirm it? This would be a tremendous boost for Campbelltown and a huge win for WTs and the boys, girls, men and women in the district. Having two COEs would provide the WTs with an enormous advantage for junior development and ownership of the Campbelltown/Macarthur region.

i’d Like to see the Club’s promotional year kicked off on 23 January which would be the 115th Anniversary if I’m correct.
Not too many clubs around have that rich pedigree.
A black and gold Singlet with the numbers 115 Or a photo of Laurie just might ignite the passion the team can ride all the way to the finals.
Surely we.can.do.better than.an.old balmain singlet

I might be mistaken but wasn't it Richardson who was ceo at South's when they started making their push down there. In the presser yesterday he sounded adamant that that's our future, so I reckon he's going to finally position the Tigers more aggressively out Campbelltown way. I'm an ex Balmain supporter. Personally I believe we need change. Play retro round at Leichardt. Train at Concord. Play the rest of our home games at Campbelltown it's our future and our nursery. We're the Wests Tigers now.
