Benji wont automatically have until the end of 2027…the results will need to improve accordingly along the way to provide more him more time …

If they get the spoon again this year … should he survive that?

I would suggest Dessy is gone in a matter of weeks and Madge might be as well by the end of this year if things continue as is
In regards to Des and Madge even if they do get the chop I wouldn’t bring them here. We had Madge and it failed and I was one of his supporters, and Des I think sadly his time has passed. He’s been a great coach and has had some success in his career, but he’s had problems at Dogs, Manly and now Titans. I wouldn’t bring either here should they become available.

Yeah I agree .. Des is probably in the Last Chance Saloon with the current gig , and you don’t go back to a coach you have gotten rid of previously ( unless your name is Pascoe and Sheens ) …makes you wonder who then ? Rumours of Arthur being in the frame for the Titans job as it appears he has missed out on the Perth gig..I doubt we are going to be anyone’s first choice …

Its too early to write off Benji anyway and will just destabilise everything. He needs another year or two... I'll cop it on the chin if it doesn't work out, it's not like we are a successful club or anything... Risk vs return is worth it

you and I can say what we like…its Richo’s call , and I don’t see him waiting until 2027 if things aren’t working out …he frankly doesn’t have the time ..

Honestly I don’t think we were many coaches first choice last time around after Madge got the sack. I know there was talk that Flanno was interested but hard to say. Some say he was, others say he wasn’t, but anyway I agree you don’t generally hire a former coach again (unless it’s Bennett). I’m over changing coaches like all fans we usually do every 2 years that’s been the average since 2012, but I don’t know if Benji will last after this year. He’ll finish the season I have no doubt about that, but after that it’s a big call.

In regards to Benji …I guess we need to see how it plays out rest of the season …it’s in the balance at the moment ..,I don’t think he needs to do anything spectacular to be back ..,winning 4-5 more games over the rest of they year will probably do it …

I look at it from this perspective, if Benji gets us finals bound even if we just make it he’s definitely safe. If we just miss the 8 and we finish around 9th-11th I say the club leans towards most likely safe. If we finish 12th-13th it can go either way as yes there’s been improvement but not a whole lot of it. And if we finish bottom 4 again I say he’s most likely out the door even if we avoid the spoon, another bottom 4 finish you would say has to lean towards getting the boot.

I don’t think he will even need to do that well…I suspect they will be happy just to avoid the spoon and finish with say 9-10 wins ,,.. the bottom of the table has lifted this year so that will probably still put them around 13th ..

I’m over changing coaches every 2 years I genuinely am, but the problem is in this case our fans are running out of patience. If we weren’t going through a finals drought that’s spanned 13 years potentially 14 if we miss again this year, we could probably agree to give that kind of time. Unfortunately I don’t think we can, not calling for his sacking yet but Richo has to make a big call after the season is finished. Only way Benji is safe for sure is we make the 8.

I think it’ll depend where we are on the ladder as well in this case. Even if we do snare 9-10 wins total if it’s around bottom 4 again he may get chopped.

Billy Slater has been talking our roster up a great deal.....I wouldn't mind him coming on as the attacking coach. I would keep Benji as head coach unless a Bennett or Bellamy came along or maybe even Cleary considering how many ex panthers players we now have....he might bring his son with him.

The risk of sacking Benji early is to lose Luai, May and co who signed because of Benji.

The return is we continue to attract quality players to the club which we haven't been able to do for 15 years.

This is an attempted rebuild by one of the best adminstrators in the game..we are only 1 1/2 seasons into the rebuild and so far I am impressed..it was a low base..

If the Galvin shit doesn't disrupt our season i dare say we have another win or two on the board and are in the 8... And for a head coach of a basket case club, I think Benji handled it well protecting the club and the player. He is a people leader and businessman. If you don't think so go and watch him on celebrity apprentice to get some insight into his persona. He's a Wayne Bennett type of manager, a people leader . The bulk of them all want to play for him.

That’s a pretty weak risk v reward assumption tbh but thanks for answering.
I agree he is a great man manager and have said so all along. He is in the wrong role. With his experience, contacts within the game, popularity and emotional intelligence he should be head of the football department.

What is weak about it?
