Chammas Article

cochise...I want the Wests Tigers to succeed just as much as you...but not at the cost of identity.

The Magpies deserve more than a small patch on our jersey and a name ...Wests...that many wouldn't even link back to their legacy unless told.
The Magpies emblem is barely visible...tucked away like an afterthought, despite being one of the most recognised and beloved symbols in Australian sport.
Just ask the faithful of Collingwood Magpies...and the Wests Magpies...the black and white bird means so much.

Balmain's heritage is showcased boldly.
The Magpies legacy, meanwhile, risks being quietly archived.
This isn't clinging to the past...it's refusing to let a 90% stakeholder become invisible.

And today's result speaks volumes...the Magpies defeated Canberra and are shooting up the ladder. That's not just symbolic...it's living proof the legacy still breathes.
I hope you enjoyed watching the game at Lidcombe today.
It's places like this where identity still shows up in black and white.

If unity's the goal, visibility matters.
And if you're still cheering the Magpies on, then maybe we agree on more than it seems.

I just don't get the the love affair with a teams logo/emblem. The area you represent means so much more. I wanted the merger to be called Balmain Magpies so my area was represented. At that time I lost out because apparently a tiger is more commercially appealing and marketable. For me it means nothing. I supported my area, not an animal.

What your stating is you want it all. Get over it. It's embarrassing it's still an issue for some people. Really embarrassing

Game was in Canberra today, I will be out there again soon though. I did kinda watch the game while watching the NRLW at the same time. Makasini was very good, Taylan May good. The big winger was very good again.

I don't want Balmain's identity or Wests Magpies Identity; I want a successful Wests Tigers Identity because neither Wests or Balmain could provide that.

That's the difference, you are clinging to something that died at NRL level a quarter of a century ago while the majority of us want to move into the future.

Yes that is correct.

They also need to actually commercialise the JV properly and intelligently.

NRL teams are extremely valuable media brands and it would be easy to build diversified revenue streams with them in today's economy. Content is king and the Wests Tigers are the NRL's most valuable content brand for better or worse.

Rather than thinking backwards and trying to convince small business to shell out for corporate hospitality packages and shirt sponsorships they should be expanding the content they have shown they are pretty good at and using the eyeballs they get on their content to drive advertising. Smart advertisers recognise the value of that type of marketing is far greater than logos on signs and jerseys because its measurable. Powerhouse online media buying brands like Pilot etc. would pay very good money for media partnership if the Tigers simply asked. Brands like that buy up media space like its the last loaf of bread.

How we managed to only have a low rent pro wrestling company as the primary podcast sponsor is a total indictment on the commercial operators at the club. They are talking to the wrong buyers.

Hell you could make a pretty hilarious media partnership with Pilot I am sure. Help the Tigers rise up the ladder with Pilot.

Have that one for free Tigers.
I agree, the whole game has passed my pay scale though, its now just boring , mostly due to corporate influence that the game needs to prosper. If Nutella got on board, we could go global. Its not hard - surely

Good, we're not the Wests magpies.

You have team in reserve grade, Balmain doesn't, so what are you complaining about

Stop livin' in the past maaaaan
Balmain does . Its the WSM ,acka Wt's reserve grade team, lets keep it real , even if the mathematics don't quiet add up. BZN bleats over n over .And you fell in
