There’s another thread with more info. I thought I read

Win in normal time = 4 points
Win in golden point = 3
Loss in Gp = 1
Draw = 2

I could be wrong.

If the change is approved it’s a good one.
The players deserve to get something from the game if it’s a draw in regular time. 1pt is a good decision for the loser. It also ties in well if there is a continuation of the draw after extra time.

Now to remove the field goal wins extra time rule.

Golden point/try/cutout pass to row H: 2 points
Golden point/try/cutout pass to row H: 1 point
Draw after extra time: 1 point
Normal time loss: 0 points

The fairest way I reckon.

Would prefer they abolish it except for sudden death games though.

Why not just scrap this rubbish all together and call it a draw after 80min. I understand finals series you need a result but regular season just call it a draw and move on

Because the betting agencies wouldn't have it - they need results, and multiple ways to get to said results - they have far more pull in this than people realise.

Not to be self-aggrandising, but I wrote to the NRL 7 years ago with this suggestion. Both teams get a competition point for a draw then play golden point to appease the betting agencies and other interest groups. Golden point is not just the point scored on the field but the one extra competition point too.

Good to know someone listens to me. 😉
