He hasn't coached or played in eons. His views are less and less relevant as each season passes.

I like Sterlo. Fatty is a host rather than someone who can dissect a game, have no idea what Gould does.

Fittler and Johns have football (and football affected) brains, and are basically gibbering idiots from a commentary perspective. I have no idea what Lewis and Lockyer contribute other than Queenslanders fawning over them.

Fox is better, but they have their share of pointless contributors like Shirvington, Anasta, Roach and Gasnier taking up screen time.

Surely amongst the players that retire each year there are better options. Surely Moltzen is worth a run.

I am waiting to see the bidding war for Cronk (which I am sure Gyngell didn’t use as leverage to get him to the roosters) unfold. He will be the most annoying commentator yet

The biggest problem I have with ex players commentating is that for some reason the NRL have no problem hiring any big name ex player, regardless of how they communicate. Half of them need extended elecution lessons. The Johns brothers talk out of their noses, Fittler sounds like a moron westie (before anyone jumps on me, I’m a westie). Lockyer sounds like Gary Larson. Fox aren’t much better. You look at the AFL, Union and A-League, all of their ex players sound like they have had training. Not the NRL, they’ll hand anyone a mic.
