Channel Nine, Foxtel and the Olympics

Someone mentioned it this morning and it's true, 9's coverage consists of swimming events, replays of swimming events, analysis of swimming events, interviews with retired swimmers, interviews with swimmers who medalled, expressing disappointment with swimming results, sending Gian out to remind swimmers how wonderful they are and then rolling out a litany of excuses for the swimmers poor performances. Once swimming is covered, there's a two minute catalogue style programme on results from the other 50 sports at these Olympics.

Fox is doing pretty well, although Tunisia and Morocco in ladies basketball is pretty ordinary spakfilla. Otherwise very good coverage and worth much more than the monthly subs. Gus Worland does need to be drowned in fifteen feet of concrete though.

Foxtel's coverage poops all over Nine's. And when I say poops, I mean Nine is swimming in an Olympic-sized pool full of Foxtel's butt-paste

I like the Fox coverage, especially when you're watching something and they pop up a little "Aussie Alert" in the corner so you can flick over.

That's what I love about the Olympics though! The other day I was watching Malaysia V Finland in the women's badminton. How often do you get to see that?!

It's fair enough if Channel 9 want to play the swimming live during the primetime hours in the evening, especially if there are Aussies racing (albeit they're only the heats), but what really frustrates me is that they then REPLAY the SAME heats during their 'London Gold' highlights program in the morning and afternoon. I also can't believe they're not showing action 24 hours a day like Foxtel are. Does it have something to do with the cost? As I said, I'd much rather watch a random sport during the Olympics like the badminton than rubbish like Ellen and Days of Our Lives!

Neins coverage is aweful.
I was flipping last night between the swimming and rowing on 9 and the archery on Foxtel. Ended up getting hooked on a match between Japan and Poland….came down to a one arrow shoot out. It was rivetting stuff. We dont see nearly enough archery on the telly!

Not happy with the job 9 are doing. They are sticking with the mainstream popular events and by-passing most of the interesting stuff. They should give the swimming a break, our dominance in the pool is over so they should really focus on some of the other stuff we are good in.

Agree, archery at Lords ! Great venue and great pathos. Really enjoyed the Korean girls knocking over the Chinese and how about our bloke rolling the World number One?
