Lantrak Man of the Match: Round 9
Author Dan Talintyre Timestamp Sat 5 May 2018, 08:45 PM

A standout performer in a losing side has seen Michael Chee Kam named the Lantrak Man of the Match from Wests Tigers clash with the New Zealand Warriors.

Brought off the bench after six minutes after Chris Lawrence succumb to injury, Chee Kam was immense against the Warriors — running for a team high 190 metres off his 18 runs.

The 190 metres are the most by an individual off the bench for Wests Tigers in over five years.

Chee Kam also added 32 tackles, seven tackle breaks and an offload to his 190 metres (68 of which came post-contact), and he can certainly hold his head high despite his side's disappointing defeat.

On your Foxsports/NRL stats post:

16\. Chee-Kam - 159 metres in attack, 18 runs, 26 tackles

That is a big discrepancy.

One set of stats might be in Kiwi measurements!!!!

Might be a load of BS as well

This guy obviously had a great game on the weekend but he is not a superstar who will do that every week. He’s a great impact player off the bench who can fill a role for about 30 minutes. Don’t get the hype for this guy.

MCK is a beast, I've always rated him but he came very good at the end of last year.

Manly reserve grade?
Only made grade there five times.

Didn't know that. I must have caught one or two of his games and he did well in them and made an impression on me that had me glad he was coming to the tigers.
Whatever the case, the point is up until this week my (misguided?!) expectations of him have been greatly unfulfilled.
Probably safe to say his best nrl game to date then.

You're right bra.
He was a hype under 20s player at the raiders and signed on with Manly with big expectations and spent a lot of time injured and in NSW cup.

Always had the potential but has never really lived up to the hype.

He's been playing good this year though.
I'm a fan. Always has the fresh haircuts throughout his career.

Seems to get a lot of love on here tho which is good to see. He's a late bloomer and very versatile. Good clubman.

I thought Chee-kam was really good again last night. The whole team was good tho, so he didn't stand out as much as last week. Had some really good runs as well, getting that penalty when we were tied in the 2nd.

He chased after the cowboys intercept. Hes got a bit of speed about him when he actually runs hard. Bench Utility is his best option atm. Can p[lay in the forwards or backs.
