Looking at the (frighteningly long) list of players off contract after 2014 I'd have thought the priority would be locking up a lot of those guys. Hopefully the combination of cutting dead wood now and the expiration of the infamous "paying another club for our ex-players to play" contracts should help, but I wouldn't be expecting a raft of big new signings.

Unless some real quality comes onto the market and would fill a position that we are weak in at present, than I would be waiting till the silly season mid year next year with a eye to 2015.

Really at present the difference between us being a good team or remaining on struggle street comes down to fixing up our defense and that comes with experience

Yep true and I'm hoping that rumours of us signing Kidwell as defensive coach are true, as this will be a move in the right direction to rectify this ongoing problem.

Kidwell is now confirmed. I think this is good, especally given our roster, he has a good rapport with young islanders and understands the culture.
