what people also need to remember is that benji was predominately a left side playmaker until lui left.
since then benji has done most of his attacking on the right side.blair was horrible on the left edge last year with 90% of attacking raids ending in his hands.the same happened when he was switched.

Entirely true - I remember watching live a couple of times at ground level and marveling at how well Benji worked with Chris at speed in a small corridor!

Your whole post gives good perspective Bon and makes me feel better about having more patience with Chris.

Quite happy with his imorovement last week. It was a nice pass from him to Korobeite which sent him along a 70 metre dash.

I think that was Timmy Moltzen? The play where he beat Kingston on the outside, but hit the deck after stepping inside and being tackled by the cover?

correct, lawrence was the decoy that grew in the centre and the winger had to come in on moltzen who passed and left koro in the clear.

what i would like to know is what people expect lawrence to do in attack.
in the first 2 games he has not received the ball from a backline movement in the opponents half.
seriously people think about that.
he has touched the ball once in the opponents 10 that was an inside run from farh at dummy half.
the next closest touch to the opposition line was 48 out from the opponents line and he threw a poor low pass to koro.

out of his 15 touches 10 have been inside his own 30,either from dummy half or a one out hitup.
to his credit he has averaged 9 yards per hitup inside his 30 and drawn 2 penalties.

this was the same last year.

really don't know what game some are watching,or what centres are in this position and lighting it up.

Maybe that is why we have been poor for the last year and a bit then…if our fastest player and also our best centre both play on the left side why aren't we going left more often than right? Good teams play to their strengths, not away from them.

What about his defence ? Can't move laterally like he used to. Check the missed tackles since the injury.

Give the bloke a break, between busted hips, hamstrings and shoulders he hasn't seen much decent ball. Everyone is so quick to cut Moltzen and Tedesco a break when they cop ACL's, but Rowdy has multiple injuries, including a career threatening one and is cast off onto the scrap heap? I concede the bloke is struggling but give him a few weeks to settle in under a new regime before writing him off.

Miss that left side attack….

Leave him alone, He'll come good. The injury that that poor boy got was terrible and he needs time to get confidence back. He does look like he has lost a bit of pace but I'm sure what he has lost in pace he more then makes up for it in other areas.

Then dont cry if we cant win a comp
He can come good in state cup

His attack been down as Bonstonker pointed out is likely due to structural changes post Lui, so i guess we an forgive him for that. As for defence, well he has never been the greatest and his biggest downfall in defence is rushing in on the opposing centre and either miss tackling or ineffectively tackling them, i suppose this too has an element of structural causation.

Hopefully Potter n co are thinking of ways to fix this stuff.

I don't think it's a case of his lateral movement being poor, I think a lot of it has to do with a very inexperienced winger causing doubt in the backlines decision making. Coupled with the fact he is still working on his confidence dealing with contact.

As for his attack, Bon summed it up perfectly. There are some very harsh critics that think the defense in the NRL is like the Holden Cup where every time you catch the ball you will make a gap. Unfortunately when you are receiving the ball 2m from the attacking line it makes it very difficult. Do you notice how much outside defenders rush up on Lawerence when he is about to receive the ball? That is not a sign that a footballer has nothing to offer. That is a sign that opposition coaches know that he is leathal when given room to move, hits some of the best lines in the NRL and most importantly, know how late he gets the ball on the left edge nowadays. Rewind to the days of Tuiaki and Lawrence usually had about 10-15m to work in which ultimately ended up in a try for Tuiaki because Lawrence power and speed were too much to handle. From what I can see he still hits the line with great speed and NEVER gets pushed backwards even running the dog runs from kick returns.

If he gets the ball with some space and still runs directly at his man then I will be worried but I am yet to see that.

his most common missed tackle is a straight on shot at the opposition and he bounces off.he did this regularly when he first came into first grade, stiffened up in that area and has now become more inconsistent.
4 of his missed tackles this year he has bounced off,but has also got back to complete the tackle.
none of his misses this year have been because of a lack of lateral movement.
the one he let in against the knights was because he went for a flat low ball .

Everyone loves Lawrence and we all want him to be the player he once was.

My suggestion is to give Lawrence a couple of weeks in State Cup to get his confidence and Mojo back.

Sometimes tough love is the best option but it will give Brien and Simona to show their wares in the NRL.

Lawrence and Ayshford were victims of Sheens [This word has been automatically removed]ing about with the halves last year. Not since 2011 have they had quality service from the halves, of course they're going to be a bit rusty.

Ayshford has already improved on last year. Lawrence will too.

Miller, Marshall and Farah are still changing the way they play now under their second club coach, this stuff takes time.

The only thing we can remain very critical about at this stage is application in defence. It's always been a weak point.

With Fulton not sticking his initial contact to Blair not injecting himself anywhere near enough and Anasta being steady, our fringe defence is very shady and needs toughening up quick smart.

Was starting to have my doubts but after just watching chris lawerance youtube clip by Bonstoker, just don't see him not getting back to form. The guy has too much talent to not find his form again. Has the loss of Lui hurt his game badly?

I've been saying it since last year and tonight was proof I was right.

Ayshford and Lawrence have dramatically improved on last year and it all comes from stability in the halves.

Ayshford's try was the best of all, because he finally backed himself and didn't second guess and was rewarded. Thats the sort of thing that will boost his confidence immensely.

Lawrence finally hit the gaps tonight, he's back to his best now. We now have our attack working out wide.

Still have big defence issues in the middle and on the fringes, but that is a lot easier to rectify with players gaining confidence.

I think our whole side performed well tonight tbh. Our downslide coincided with a reshuffle due to Koro getting injured. We became weaker defensively and the Eels have enough to score some points on a weakened backline defensively. That match was poorly officiated and the Eels were bad and I think because of that we're not going to get as much credit as we should from that result. We won that game in a fashion unlike the Tigers I've seen before. Composure, completions and grind.
