Chris Lawrence

If you don't want the guy there fair enough, but he's earned the right to be respected without people trying to brush him off like a hack. Theres a reason why he's become the player he is.

Remember that.

Muscle on his frame and a shift to the backrow would be the best for him at this stage -

Ergh….. I sound like Sheens....

I've always thought that would be the fix for Lawrence. But watching his runs out of our red zone this year, he always starts strong but ends up getting pushed back the 3 or 4m that he gains.

Sheens said he would be the next Laurie Daley ha so wrong but I think a move to the row can't be far off

Again you insist on respect???
We have respected his 2 year below par efforts enough is enough he should be building form in nsw cup or gracefully leaving the club with the respect he has remaining by your so called earned respect…

If you note the times this was actually before the other post, so it wasn't ''again'' on my behalf at all. And yes i do insist on respect. As i said, i got no issue if people don't want him there, its the way people go about saying it. He isn't some hack whose never done anything, he almost gave his lively hood to this game and 3 yrs later people want to kick him to the curb like he's a dog. He's not playing like this cos he's lazy or doesn't give a crap, he's still battling the affects of almost being crippled, he deserves a bit more respect in the way some people talk about him

Just my opinion

It's not his constant injuries I'm concerned with, it's his lack of ability. Can anyone tell me when was the last game that he had a stand out performance? I can't recall one for years now and yet, whenever he's "fit" it seems he's in. I'd rather his injuries take longer to heal. Can the sharks afford another one?

Parra round one last year. He bagged a double. Looked strong and sharp that night.

ST we got belted by Newcastle Round 1

But I do remember the game you are talking about

He ran over Chris Sandow twice

That's not saying much though, a butterfly could run over sandow

Guys have some respect and compassion for a guy who was nearly crippled, you don't want him in first-grade fair enough but don't say he isn't trying he is trying he's utmost… I think he should retire if he keeps getting injured and is getting worse but stick with the club in some capacity he is a really good speak that helps he's cause.

I do remember at the time when we were in contract talks with him, a lot of people here were in the fetal position waiting to hear that he had signed with us. When word came out he signed for 5 years, most hear were cheering the joint down they were so happy.

I agree with GNR, the guy deserves better respect than what he's getting now.

Fickle!

The problem is, the best thing for Lawrence would be to go down to NSW Cup for a while. Less pressure, not in the spotlight, able to get his body and match fitness up tp 100% and hopefully he'd then be killing it.

Very few players in the NRL can be afforded the luxury of getting their match fitness in the NRL. Players like Inglis, Smith etc…. Why is it so wrong for him to get an opportunity to get his body right and work his way into some form? Why do some people think that he has to be in the starting lineup regardless of performance or confidence? That's just blind faith combined with delusional optimism.

^ True Balmain boy!
It's not like we don't have any options if he is not available. Whether his bad form is due to injury or lack of confidence, he does no one any favours by putting his hand up for selection. Bottom line is we do not need him playing NRL at his current standard, there are options this season!

There is no shame in playing reserves to get yourself right Chris!!

OK fair comment, if we were following a team of robots, otherwise it's a lowest common denominator comment in my book. To agree with that comment I'd just be supporting a corporate brand, not a team made up of talented human individuals. Part of following a team is respect and admiration for the ability of the players, whether or not they are in form at a particular time. I agree with GNR's comment.

Think that ability wise from what I've seen on current form that Lawrence still gets the nod over Lulia

The other point is we rarely attack wide from our own half now , so the chances that Rowdy will get to make a break from any range are limited

When we go wide in the red zone we play the second man (usually Teddy ) which limits the space Lawrence has

Many times when Rowdy does get the ball he seems to be closer to the ruck also

Potter and Sheens have different coaching plans Unless you can create something ad lib as Simona does your centres will be limited under Potter's game plan

What reason is that? Why has he become non potent? Why is his defence poor? Why does he no longer run great lines through defence like he did in his first couple of years? Whatever reason it is doesn't really matter to me. He's done. Enough chances, enough missed tackles and not enough tries. Thanks, but we need to move on. No hard feelings.
