It was a terrifying act performed by a person whom can only be described as a terrorist.

I work with a couple of gay guys - great blokes. They talk of the pain they have endured just to be themselves. Why can’t we just accept difference in this world? Why must we attack those that are different to us: race, colour, preference, faith. It’s really ridiculous when you think about it. My thoughts and well wishes to all affected by this senseless act of lunacy and evil.

I've watched it but from an analysis point of view Happy. You can label the shooter as many things but methodical is right up there. An absolute tragedy which should result in NZ implementing gun reform similar to what we did in the 90's. The police did amazingly well to take this guy alive given the circumstances. My big worry now is whether this will end up inciting revenge attacks.

Terrible tragedy - hopefully this guy is locked up in solitary confinement for life - with no privileges what so ever.

My thoughts and prayers to the victims families. The b##### even shot kids…........... What a 'brave' man- a coward more like. Also my heart felt thanks to the police, ambulance and other first responders at the scene. I dont even want to think of what they saw and were confronted with..

Just goes to show there are extremist idiots on all sides of religious / political beliefs. White supremacy nut jobs- I can only imagine the bigotry, hatred and delusion in the manifesto they have provided justifying their horrendous actions.

This is so devastating, the loss of life. Christchurch is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited and it keeps getting pounded, first the earthquakes and now this. My heart goea out to all New Zealanders tonight, please stay strong and maintain that spirit and inclusiveness that makes you such a beautiful country!!!

Absolute tragedy, but something just as disturbing are the people that want to inflict violence on the gunman.

I assume they don't like what he did and are against violence, yet they want to react to violence with more violence.

If you're against violence you wouldn't be calling for violence against anyone in any situation.

100% agreed, I don't understand that at all and found it upsetting to read post along those lines. It is a similar mentality to that of the guy that did this.
