I loved how Farah played….so controlled. All the Tigers were good. Woods is a freak....think he played the last 35 minutes straight and he wouldnt blow out a candle.

Alright so I heard they weren't showing this game live in Australia. Surely this isn't true, as we had it live here in New Zealand.

Farah had a good game, showed enough to be picked.
Woods was fantastic, one of City's best. Expect him to be in the frame next year.

And the big news is that Mitchell Pearce had a cracker of a game. From that game, Pearce and Sims are automatic picks now.

Woods was tops and has been since his debut in fg he's in great form and capable of playing well at soo level. I hate it when people say "with a full year in fg under his belt he'll be a bigger and better player and fully ready next year" stuff that!! next year may never come, i say pick him on the bench now, don't totally throw him to the wolves and start him.
This idea of picking players on reputation or past performances and expecting them to start miraculously hit form in a soo game is crazy.

Farah was excellent. He won't get picked though. If they had any sense you would start Buderus and have Robbie off the bench. But they will pick useless Gidley as a "utility" even though he's dog shit in every position.

Woods is a machine. Don't think he'll get picked but he put his hand up.

How could they not pick Woods though Hybrid? He was the best prop on the field and does the little things right. I liked the praise Gus gave him this arvo in reference to props just traditionally bashing it up the middle, he said Woods also has the ability to make other players miss him with his footwork. He cranked out 35 minutes straight in the second half too which I hope the selectors took notice of.

I can understand Farah being overlooked, even though he shouldn't be.

Buderus has been average all year. But the media hype gets him picked.

Woods, Farah, and Pearces inclusions in the Blues team will prove that they do use city/country to pick some players.

If any of those guys miss out, it just proves what Jamie Lyon knew for years - It's a farce.

I recall Skando putting in a MOM performance back in about 02 that came to nothing, which is why i don't pay any attention to this game. Woods deserves to be there, but the selectors seem to have an infatuation with the most over-rated prop in the game in Tim Mannah. As someone suggested in another thread, maybe Woods could snare the 18th man role. Would be good for his development. As for Farah, as good as he is playing, and i don't mean this in a disrespectful way to Robbie, but i'll believe it when i see it. It seems as though the media have had Buderus earmarked since round 1, and they always seem to get what they want

Aaron Woods Will be the Aussie Prop on a few years as well, Make no mistake about that. I would be surprised if he got this turn in Sky blue this year,.

Old firm Mitchell Pearce and Todd Carney look set to be reunited as NSW's State of Origin halves pairing after starring in Sunday's City-Country clash in Mudgee.

Pearce was outstanding for City in the 24-22 win, having a hand in all four of his side's first-half tries, including a perfectly-weighted grubber kick for the second of Steve Turner's double at the Glen Willows Sports Complex.

He silenced his critics in a dominant first-half performance, while Carney roared to life after the break to outpoint City's Jarryd Hayne in the five-eighth battle and inspire a stirring Country fightback.

Pearce and Carney - the Sydney Roosters' 2010 grand final combination - are now very much the frontrunners to team up for the Blues in Origin I against Queensland at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on May 23, with Hayne facing an uphill battle to get the selectors' nod to play second-receiver for NSW.

Rival coaches, City's Brad Fittler and Country's Laurie Daley, both commended their influential playmakers.

Fittler, whose team's other four-pointers came from centre Chris Lawrence and fullback Lachlan Coote, also praised hooker Robbie Farah's eye-catching display.

"It was real mature win and Robbie and Mitchell were fantastic at controlling the result," Fittler said.

"We relied on them to win the game. They both played a part in our kicking game and exposing their weaknesses.

"I thought everything that was asked of Mitchell leading into this game he answered. He had a couple of good runs, his passing was slick and you couldn't really ask much more from him."

Daley said Carney was ready for his long-awaited NSW debut, but warned the Cronulla man he needed to perform for 80 minutes.

Carney was a peripheral figure in the first half, but produced a moment of pure class to leave Jamie Buhrer for dead with a side-step and inside pass for Tariq Sims to score his second try.

"He started slow, Toddy, but was good for us in the second 40," Daley said.

"You need to get on the front foot in Origin and, if you are doing the little things well, points will flow from that.

"The players that have been there know what is required at Origin level and the other guys that haven't been there can get a small taste of what's required here and that is why this game is important."

Carney agreed with Daley that he needed more work on his game before he could play Origin, but said he hoped he'd done enough to convince NSW coach Ricky Stuart to pick him.

"I know there is more I can do," he said.

Hayne did little to suggest he was a genuine No.6 and finished the game on the wing after an injury-enforced backline reshuffle and also threw an intercept pass for one of Blake Ferguson's two tries for Country.

Pearce was satisfied with his performance, but admitted he needed to continue at the same level for the Roosters to and ignore calls for Peter Wallace or Jarrod Mullen to wear his Blues No.7 jersey.

"I hear something different every week, but I was happy with my game and that is all I can do," he said.

"I don't think my form has been that bad this season, but I enjoyed playing with Robbie and I think we compliment each other well."

While Country were gallant, Daley conceded his side gave themselves too much to do after letting City rack up a 24-point lead before halftime.

City centre Joseph Leilua was placed on report in the first half for a chicken wing tackle on Ferguson.

Why is it these blokes have played their best games whilst not in Tigers jerseys ??

Don't get me wrong ,I'm happy they have shown some form but the question HAD to be asked

I am happy they have.

Sometimes it is that change of scenery and the difference away from the grind of weekly NRL that can turn a players season around and let them recapture something.

Matt Scott is the best example of this. He was decent but a pretty up and down player. Went into Origin camp and came out the other side what we see today.

I remember that about Skando very well, GNR. I was really ticked off at the time. They have their favourites and no matter how well some others play, they are always overlooked - Skando, El Masri, Farah, Blacklock, Thompson and Campbell to name but a few. Judging by the comments about him during the year, Woods is becoming one of the favourites, though. However, it was all about Sims in media reports on today's game.
