Who's next?

Well seeing we let Austin go , we might as well let Tedesco ,Brooks ,Woods , Farah and Taupau go

Oh that's right we still haven't signed Tedesco because we made a promise to him we haven't so far kept (5 months later mind you )

If we can't find the money now to sign Tedesco , something is seriously still wrong with this club

Happy, Teddy is signed on a 3 year deal. Tigers confirmed it on Twitter a week or two ago.

Mayer told him the offer was still available and it was done - not sure why this keeps coming up.

Moltzen might actually be handy on a base level contract. If he wants more than starting level he can POQ.

I could handle losing Galloway if there is a replacement of suitable quality. I wouldn't shaft him for the sake of it.

What is a base level contract?..

Moltzen will be into the 3rd year of his current contract he signed in 2013\. I'm sure is not "base level" as you put it.

Oh, I thought his contract expired this year for some reason. By base level I meant the base wage a top 25 can earn (80K?)

Depends what we roped him into staying for as well.

I don't care what BS Mayer spins out the fact is we don't use all of our salary cap and therefore we are always going to be behind other clubs.
What we might see as failures are what Mayer presents to the board as savings.

Realistically, if they aren't spending the whole cap (and, I stress, I have no idea if this is true or not) it's because they haven't got it. Not much they can do about that at the moment. What do you want management to say? "Yeah we're releasing players even though we're under the cap because half our club's ownership is a financial basket case and the other half won't stump up to cover the shortfall. I'd advise any cashed up clubs to come sniffing round our roster because chances are we're under-paying."

Tigers didnt confirm anything on Twitter and actually Mayer blocked me for repeatedly asking him whether Teddy was signed or not.

I'm pretty sure the new tv deal was supposed to cover most if not all of the salary cap for all clubs. Take that pressure away from them financially and help to even the competition.

And i read somewhere from the official WT that Teddy had signed a few months back. Does anyone have proof that that isn't true?

Does anyone really believe that if Tedesco hadn't signed a contract he wouldn't have signed elsewhere by now?

maybe they let Austin go because he want to go no good keeping a player who dose not want to play for the club any more. I hope the club puts more money to martin he looks sensational I know its under 20 which is miles below nrl but I think this bloke has what it takes

As Fact…How much do we use?

If they announce Teddy is officially signed now Gavet and Austin are gone, it would be reasonable to assume we needed cap space to get Teddy's contract registered?

Losing Austin is s failure to me.

Can't believe they think Moses to be better.

And Gavet too showed he can be an enforcer

I don't agree with either of those comments. IMO both Austin and Gavet were destabilising influences who won admirers for "show" rather than substance. I don't think either will be a major loss.

h

Austin was going in 2016 and moses will be a far better player ( in time) and please Gavet!!! He was more interested hanging with the boys than turning up to training and games on time.

I agree regarding they were both a bit overrated on here but I disagree with Austin won't be a major loss. We lack depth, experience and size in the backs- we will need Austin this year for sure.

Same applies to Koro last year. I didn't see him in our long term plans but we let him go and then we were forced to play 100kg backrowers on the wing.

I decided to bring it up

TS in the thread in regards to the Wests Tigers season review that the club did Tedesco's name wasn't mentioned as a recruit

When Alexaki asked Mayer about this he tweeted back saying they were still playing with contracts and were trying to find a agreeable amount

That's coming from Mayer himself less than a week ago

I have known he hasn't been signed for a long time and have told some on here why

I'll leave it at that

Can you name me the illustrious names left that are not yet signed for 2015 we should be targetting?By releasing all these players it allows us to rework our cap for 2015 so it gives us extra space for 2016.Quite frankly who would of wanted to come here for 2015 after the season we had last year anyhow. We would of had to pay massive overs for players.Let Taylor right this ship in 2015 and then we will be looked more favorably as a free agent destination in 2016.

Like what you're saying Jerry . Totally agree.

@Balmain Boy said:
Sure there are, there's hundreds of players available.

Like who? Name some perhaps?

**Make them an offer they can't refuse and we can sign anyone.!**

That's how you build a losing culture. By bankrolling for big names, you end up being a crap club paying players overs while they underperform.

One needs to only look at the 2002-2006 Rabbitohs or the 2007-14 AFL Melbourne Demons to see this. Couple of star players in a mediocre team achieving nothing.

You shouldn't need to make big-dollar offers players can't refuse, you should make offers to players to come to a great club they can't refuse to come to. Start by building a good culture and decent facilities, and those big names will be more incentivised to come to Wests. Getting Coach Keegan for S + C is a great start. An upgrade to Camp Concord's facilities might be in order, but I'm not sure WT can afford it.

Considering we just got fined for exceeding the cap, that seems unlikely.

EDIT: I'm wrong. We got the fine for exceeding the NYC cap.
