Easily the biggest improvement was our defence. I'm not sure if it was because Naqama was changed to the wing but we didn't rush up and create overlaps like we always do. When the Cows swung the ball wide we didn't panic and held our line. It was great to see.

However by far the biggest change I saw was the amount of heart shown by the boys. The team played like exactly that, a team. The players looked like they really wanted the win and wanted to win for Cleary. I'm stoked.

He left McIlwrick out there for a lot longer. He used the bench when needed not via a pregame plan he blindly stuck to. McIlwrick was playing well and had more in the tank. It also meant Liddle came on when everyone was a little bit more tired.

Nofo still rushed in from the wing - it was only good luck that saved a certain cows try, However the right side defence was a major improvement.

I think you are right - in the modern game subtle differences like timing of bench replacements can have a huge impact on the game. Judging by tonights game i think Cleary has a good grasp on this. Whether it was timed or not i don't know but he brought Woods back out when it seemed like the game was going to slip away. The team seemed to lift after that.

Tedesco through the middle third..

Our direct attack…

Limited use of the 2nd man play..

Scramble in D but I think that was more the players pulling their finger out..

Stringer left home with ISP...

I liked it...

He taught then how to catch a football. They were close to the fewest tries scored over the last few weeks. But I am sure they lapped the field in number of bombed tries

Simple changes but very effective, our edge defence was much better also, Moses never got isolated and while JLJ got trampled a couple of times, he also made sure to put his entire body in the way to slow things down enough.

The other thing which was noticeable was the support play through the middle. We always had a couple of players lurking around the ruck pushing up on the offload.

So are we fit enough for 80mins all of a sudden?
Our attitude changed tonite, hopefully that keeps up and that will be Clearys challenge.
Kev to left wing was s great move. Him out of the club will be next.

Much more direct. Played both sides of ruck. Idris, while still underdone made for a much more formidable right side. Our ball control in the first half gave him options with the bench.

We even used the old out in play that Farah ,Marshall and Moltzen used so successfully

A lot of what happened last night seemed to be focussed about being mentally tougher and focussed

We still used the compressed defence , but it wasn't as compressed as usual

We almost got caught out a few times , but it was far better than previous matches

Yes it was great seeing teddy pop up in the middle unlike with those boring sweep plays with defenders sweating on him. Top marks coach.
