Club at crossroads

Reading between the lines its looks like jt might be a goner. Too much baggage and poor decisions. At least he is trying to take down the last remnants of the old boys club with him.

Although I have been a supporter I think it is now clear that he is not our long-term coach. What we need now is s coach that can accelerate our return to finals football. I reckon we need a now prisoners type like Michael Maguire. He seems to have run his race at Souths and he seems like the type that demands respect and total commitment. We have had too many soft coaches who have put up with mediocrity for too long. It would certainly send out a message with the opportunity to overhaul our list at the end of 2017.

We've been at a crossroads since 2006\. We fluked a grand final and we've rested on those laurels ever since.

No one takes us seriously and I don't blame them.

"fluked a grand final" I don't think so. That was a great team and but for some on field decisions against us, we could have easily gone back to back.

Who are these people or entities that don't take us seriously?

The playing roster needs an almighty overhaul . Our fowards couldn't intimidate an under 8's side.

And our halfback who wrapped himself in cotton wool for his new employer.

No team takes us seriously, they'll all in with a chance against us. Not once this year have I confidently felt like we were certs to win.

The entire club needs tearing down and started all over again. There's just too many imbeciles embedded within the club and the culture is abysmal.
Start again - new coach, new roster (except ET, Teddy and Woods) and one home ground.
And what's with the s*** playing strip? Use the black or the orange only and get rid of the 2 white designs. They look amateurish

We need to hit the reset button once again. Sad state the club is in. Been this way for sometime though. Amatureish organisation in most aspects of pro sports.

2005 was definitely no fluke, we took on all comers and beat them.
We are also definitely nowadays seen as a laughing stock by many people involved in the game.

Errr…..nobody takes us seriously. Unless you implode you are invariably going to beat us. I can't think of any recent game which we have won where the other team played well but we just played better. The other team always has to have a shocker if we are to have any chance.

And 2005 was clearly a fluke, evidenced by the fact that it was a one-off. Having said that, it was a glorious fluke.

Crossroads..? …I akin it to more like conked out on a railway crossing with the 5:01 to Facifern bearing down at full speed...

Idk if 2005 was a fluke, but it was an anomaly. The worst thing 2005 did was instil a belief that we need to be the entertainers, and we only have one gear, which is utter crap. While JT hasn't had the success implementing his plan to change our structure, the idea was the right one, for too long we've played like juveniles. The club needs to grow up and play like men and get their hands dirty.

According to the following extract of the interview with Marina Go it certainly does not seem that Wests Tigers' management are too perturbed about the current state of affairs at the club. In fact Pascoe has assured Taylor that he will be coach in 2017\. My goodness.

Coach Taylor is off contract at the end of next season. Already chief executive Justin Pascoe has assured Taylor he will be coach in 2017.

“We’ve appointed someone to the role and we’re committed to that person to be a success,” Go said. “He will be with us for as long as we believe it is the right decision for success for the club. Ultimately the important thing for our club is that we gain on-field success.

“There is no time limit on our coach. We’re not assessing him month to month or week to week. What we’re doing is building a support base around him, offering him all the support we can to ensure he is a success

By fluke I mean it was a flash in the pan. We certainly deserved it in 2005, but in hindsight we were never built to go the long haul and be regular competitors for the top four.

So if we give him support, and he continues to fail, we may show him the door next week.

There has been a million of these posts over the years, always after yet another loss. As someone said we have been at the cross roads now for about five years, might have gone past the cross road and heading for the cliff.

It would be great if there was a instant fix, sack the coach, sack Farah invest in some marque players, but I am afraid it doesn't work like that. Getting off the bottom takes time and a lot of luck.

I guess maybe Taylor should go, but has any other coach had any luck with this roster and is any other coach likely to have any success??

There is a seven year members function on prior to the Souths game will be interesting what message the club will be telling us

We weren't respected in 2006, the yr after we won it. I remember JT being interviewed after the Cows beat us in the GF replay said (paraphrasing) "that was pretty scrappy. We have to lift our game to match the top teams". So we weren't even respected when we were the defending premiers. It's because teams know we've only got one gear. We've been the most basic team in the comp constantly trying to rehash the same style because we don't know any other way.

If I could pick any coach then Bellamy is the obvious choice but for our financial status a realistic signing I would go with Toovey ( Tough love is what this club needs)

No thanks for Toovey. He wears his heart on his sleeve, but has always coached top drawer players. There were suggestions that his game plans were almost non-existent. I think he would be a case of out of the frying pan into the fire.
