Club at crossroads

Idk if 2005 was a fluke, but it was an anomaly. The worst thing 2005 did was instil a belief that we need to be the entertainers, and we only have one gear, which is utter crap. While JT hasn't had the success implementing his plan to change our structure, the idea was the right one, for too long we've played like juveniles. The club needs to grow up and play like men and get their hands dirty.

Yep. That is spot on.

Actually we should an attraction for a coach to come and prove they can pull a rabbit out of the hat - what a feather in their cap if they got WT into top 8 first season.

I'd go for cleary, he has a good re it's of taking teams to the finals and has a attitude that if you don't perform you will get dropped

No one takes us seriously and I don't blame them.

"fluked a grand final" I don't think so. That was a great team and but for some on field decisions against us, we could have easily gone back to back.

Who are these people or entities that don't take us seriously?

I agree with Col. We won the grand final in 05 and it was great. We've had some decent seasons since but we've been in a rut for a number of years now.

As for no one taking us seriously it's just a nonsensical comment.

I think to turn things around we just have to start making good decisions consistently. We need to keep players like JAC and maybe even Taupau and Austin. We will make some mistakes and not everything will come off but we need to have a moneyball approach to recruitment and retention.

We can't have anymore Farah type pay rates and we need to work on securing a quality squad rather than one of two supposedly marquee players and hope the players around them perform well enough.

We also need to have a decent coach. I don't think we need Bellamy or something like that but we do need someone better than Taylor has been. This may come as a surprise but if Taylor learns from his mistakes I think he could do the job over a longer period. He was though a terrible choice with hindsight and we can't make mistakes like that again. We shouldn't though think we need the best coach in the world. The players will be the ones that win games. We just need a coach who can get the most out of the squad that we have.

Got news Steve we do still have that sort of payments
The payments that we paid to the two inept halves when no one else wanted to pay big money to them either 550,000, or 600, 000 EACH for one year, ridiculous.
Farahs is only 700, 000 , and gives much more value to the club.
The other 200,000 is for money that the club owed him for earlier years.
Think what the money paid for two

I understand what you are stating but we still can't be paying $900k out of our salary cap to anyone performing at the level that Robbie currently is. I don't think Robbie at his best was worth $900k.

I'm also sure we have other players being overpaid and probably our halves fit the bill. This all ends in 2017 though. Let's hope we learn from these mistakes.

So you don't mind paying 1.1 or 1.2 Mill . two the halves who aren't performing at even a reasonable level. Farah is playing at a better level than they are
Not sure I understand that one, but ok.

I didn't say that it was cool to pay our halves too much. I said that probably the halves are overpaid. Robbie is also overpaid. They are all off contract next year. Hopefully dumb errors like this don't occur in the future.

They should buy a nice little bed and breakfast together and entertain guests with their stories of how they were once players in the NRL.

The Broses have 1 year left in their NRL careers. Hope they invest their money wisely.

All or nothing at Star City Casino I reckon

Or maybe in Vegas at the end of the season in October when we haven't made the 8 - Again

I think they would become better footballers if they had a senior pro around them.

It was only last week they outplayed Hunt and Milford on their own patch.

I have not given up on them.

I just think on big coin at a Tigers club lacking leadership, they will never reach their potential.

Not sure about a crossroads, we're kinda sorting correcting the ship after previous boards, bad decisions regarding long term contracts etc. Once Farah is sorted and it's been mentioned JT won't be here after 2018, we should be moving further in the right direction. In saying that, I'm not really looking forward to next year based on performance so far. I guess we haven't dogged it as such, except for that game against the Raiders, we just don't have the quality in some areas.

The halves clearly aren't setting the world on fire, maybe a different coach could do more with them? Frozone either needs to learn how to defend or he gets replaced, need a winger to replace JAC and could do with a couple of hard head forwards who don't go overboard (like Marty) and get suspended. The hooking spot I guess is up in the air as well, will Liddle be ready next year if Ballin can't get a new knee?

Adding to the changing for not only the head coach, but the current so-called defensive coach.

Benny Elias said it perfectly today, Taylor nor Farah are bigger than the team. Tigers management get of your bums and sort this out. Managers get paid money to manage people, and its not working. I would say both need to go asap and get Cleary in here as soon as possible. A fresh start , no links to anyone, hopefully he brings a defensive coach with him.
