Coach Benji 👑

This is on the coach sorry. Everyone on here. Could see in the first 15 minutes Douihie and Luai don't work. Cha ges it after 67 minutes. Rubbish.

Why is not one coach telling Makasini to palm with his right arm?? My god
You have to manage players properly you just don't hook senior players in the middle of games - especially games that we were more than capable of winning.
Fans have all the answers and no responsibility.

Going to critique this a bit.

2024 Benji was kinda horrible as a coach. We had Bateman basically not buy-in and our team flounder. I suspect it was due to Benji being a rookie coach and not learning how to carry himself.

2025 was a minor Miracle. Terrell May being offloaded from the Chooks, after being extended made no sense at all. We lost 4 forwards and had May not arrived we would have been 16-17.

Likewise Luai and Turuva changing the attitude of the team.
Our defense was CRAP! Our backline defenense sucked and our center/wings would leak tries every game. Yet when Luai left Penrith suddenly calls of "will Luai do anything without Cleary" became "can Cleary do anything without Luai".

Now Benji hunted Luai and got him across, Turuva IMHO has been absolutely critical in changing our backline... But we had lost our entire forward pack. Terrell May picked up the slack of 4 forwards with 2 being Origin level! THAT's INSANE!

^leaving the team in that state is NOT good coaching.

2026 We see the team moulded as Benji wants.

A big help has been the faster NRL rules and the game moving in a direction that agrees with Benji's style of football.

It seems that KPP has lived up to the hype. There is no reason why he wouldn't be another Bateman signing, we did not know that Adam Obrien was the problem at Newcastle.

Bunty however hasn't lived up to the Hype.
So far Jack Bird and Bunty Afoa have been Benji's picks and they have both failed too add to the squad. This hasn't derailed us, it does show Benji's recruitment has been hit n miss and we are lucky that our hits have been very good hits.

I really don't know if Benji has moulded our team into the team he wants, or if he just "did a homer" and happened to end up with the right players. Terrell May has been the best luck this club has ever had.

There is no point to your argument. It is so full of caveats that it can only be answered in 10 years yet you want to base it on what has happened in the past 2.

But it is ludicrous to say Benji has done a Homer. ie. fluked it. He hasn't done shit all, it is round 6, and if he has done something, the forward pack have been it. You don't fluke commitment and consistency like that. That is coaching.

I think he's learning quickly. Anyone who hasn't watched the 'Rising' preseason videos, I recommend you do. It provides a real window into the personalities of the players and, more importantly, the blueprint Benji has laid down to achieve his objectives. His aims in the preseason were to build fitness, resilience and team harmony. He has undoubtedly achieved all those goals. He has also instilled some discipline by going hard when necessary, and taking a no nonsense approach, but also balanced it with encouragement and individual support of the players. All of this is good man management and good coaching. Fitness and effort obviously go a long way in this game. What the Tigers really lack now, are some genuine game breakers and also a real 6 and 7 combination. I think Benji has achieved a lot. He's built a solid roster and changed the club's attitude. He now needs to make the tough calls, put personalities and popular opinion aside and pick the right players in the right positions. Then he can seriously begin to devise the plays and patterns necessary to score more points.

If the plan was to use Jock, and I suspect that was if things were not working, I am interested as to why he got 13 minutes. It was clear as day that Douhie and Laui were not working in the first 20 minutes with so much ball. The poor pack did such a good job. I’ll admit watching the game again, the baby broncos did defend well but we win that game easily with the same line up as last week. Loads of changes to the team. And I’ll admit that if Maka did not have his worst game ever we probably win

Your right and wrong.

Yes the halves combination wasn't working. Glaringly obvious.

Where i disagree is .... if they are our two best options the month, this year etc

We need game time to build that combination

I get that. They had a game and half against the Cowboys and South's. Cowboys was won off effort and possession. South's we were the better team but couldn't finish off the sets. Against the Broncos the same thing. 2 and a half games and the structure has been all over the shop in attack. Madden comes in and the structure looks so much more clinical in attack in the first 20 minutes. 3 games of winning football where the backs had more space to work in. Sorry but Doueihi and Luai have had all off season together plus 2 and a half games. They should already clicked.
.

Bunty surely did not travel across the ocean just to be a bench warmer.

With the extended bench he should be pushing for that spot.
Hey if he is good and better players are in front of him, sure. I really struggle with that considering last year we were SCREAMING for forwards.

Maybe I just don't get it. after 7 games I would have thought he would have made the side.
How many minutes did Royce get?
Seemed late on and an early exit after half time.
What were his stats?
