I see it as a shameless attempt to create instability and advance his clients interests. The club needs stability, Benji needs experience above him, like he had in Richo.

No. Wasn’t my take on it.

It was talking about yes men, being his coaching staff.

I’ve never believed coaching was our main issue, evidenced by the great coaches who failed here.

Benji will,be coach next year for one reason $$$ , HBG won’t pay him out but I think they may take a stand on assistant coaches and ask him to replace them or offer up some them selfs like Flanno or other , he needs help as we can’t attack or defend properly , but most important once we got injuries the team totally lost its way , coaching staff could not get the guys up for games , yesterday was a shocker same as the last 3 or 4 games , we have weak minded players , they have no mental strength so they need to be helped and are def not getting that help , there are also players who are not up to nrl std yet and are being rushed in , Andrew’s yes probably deserved his shot but should have played cup rest of year and just keep getting better and harder body wise , we are blooding kids again , can I see us winning another game in 2026 probably not which after our start becomes a total disaster of a season that’s on the coach and his staff , big job ahead from end of September but we need to ,
Replace Hodgo and heingho min with defence coach and attack coach , Morris probably moves to dragons so replace him to , we may loose AD so after the meeting planed go replace him straight away , Hemphries probably do a job , then work out if Hunt is going / Bunty and if so replace them straight away , then go replace Geyer , Kit L , Luke L , Solo , Skelton if he is unwanted , just get it done so they are all on deck for start of pre season no late buys , get them in and together , train the whole top 30 all preseason together , sort out the good from the bad and flog the bad until they are good , ,, I think Flanno would be a plus for us as he has the runs in the nrl at sharks and dragons , he would be better than Hodgo and Heingho , use him and his experience ,

They are a HUGE part of the problem and all need the arse.
I’d keep Benji in an altered role due to his profile and status but the rest I’d sack today.

Sadly there will be no one to replace those players with who are decent, no decent player will want to come here.

No one is disputing this is his roster but when you look at our roster it is obviously piss poor. We recruited Luai who turned out to be a dud, can't blame Benji for trying there. KPP was on fire but sadly injury stuffed his season, Turuva is a good winger but poor centre, but we have no options, the Fainus are all good but Samuela missed a huge chunk of the season. The May brothers, Taylan has missed most of the season again nothing a coach can do there. The rest are barely KOE bar Api, look at it objectively who would be playing finals with a roster of Pole, Seyfarth, Twal, Herbert, Tino, Makasini, Madden, Toa, sadly we bank all our eggs on Juniors who aren't ready but we have zero depth as has been seen with Mason, Herbert etc. Sadly this club is as appealing as Norfolk Island as a destination and only misfits and has beens can be attracted, no coach will turn that around sadly.

You make some good points.

But injuries happen to every club. It's part of the game. There were a few tables online about injuries and we weren't any worse off than other clubs.

Luai? Benji signed him and it's arguably backfired in a massive way. That's on him.

We all have rose coloured glasses on when we view our team. For mine there's a enough evidence over the season to say that the team that Benji built and coached is very, very far off the pace. A lot of the guys simply aren't as good as we think (myself included).

On a practical level, I don't think there is any way back for a coach where the team cops 50+ point beating from bottom 8 teams.

Marshall has been around for a while now. His fingerprints are all over the roster.

This year's team is almost entirely Benji and Richo signings. Except for the Fainu brothers - who were signed by Scott Fulton.

Bagging a club legend like Benji seems sacrosanct on the forum.

But, there comes a time where we all need to be a bit realistic and admit the guy hasn't performed and probably isn't likely to have a career as an NRL coach.

It was malpractice from the start to give him the job without giving him some experience as an assistant or coaching lower grades. To give him a chance to really hone his craft. He wasn’t ready, and the on the job training has failed. He’s also made himself unemployable as a head coach ever again. Unless he goes off and does well as an assistant somewhere. Whether his ego would allow that is another story.

I dunno where Benjis future will pan out to be. I remain hopeful but he does need very good assistants in both attack and defence. Those basic areas of our game have collapsed. Not so long ago i think Bellamy said you need a good spine and paid well for them and had others that filled for squad. That has stuck with me as good common sense noting that the spine now probably includes lock. I don't think our spine is great with fullback remaining a huge question mark with no known replacement. We have to be careful of the $$$ being spent in other positions. But, first of all get good assistant coaches that can instill fitness, structured play and flexible defence. WT are so far behind the acceptable standard now.

This is it exactly. It feels like we're still nowhere near this despite every prior ceo talking a big game.

This is somewhat correct, but not entirely.
Marshall and Sheens joined midway 2022 and spent the rest of that year working on the roster and strategy whilst poor old Noddy dealt with a shit sandwich and copped the first spoon. All decisions were made by Marshal. They then took over for the 2023 season and all roster commitments and decisions continued to be lead by Benji until Sheens was forced out and Benji took over full time before that season ended. He has been head coach ever since.

Point being, Benji has been building and altering the roster for over 4 years now. He has been here for 4 full pre seasons. He is not a member of the coaching group you described above. He has been afforded every chance to succeed….mentored by a very experienced coach and guided by a very experienced CEO. This team is his. He built it and had it working for a few months. He has to work out what is going wrong, and fast.

I tipped us to run 11th this year with our roster. Injuries have probably prevented that.

It’s a long game we need to be playing here.
