Coach Benji đź‘‘

Really well handled, open and honest pressers from both Benji and AD. The big test of how this episode fades away is how well the team performs on Sunday. If nothing changes Tigers will unfortunately look like a lost cause.
One thing I will say is that the bulk of the media are absolute trash talking muck rakers with zero integrity or credibility.

We've seen Luai pictured with a vape and Royce Hunt filmed vaping in one of Terrells vlogs.

Dean Ritchie is such a dork.
I remember seeing him when One HD (Channel 10) had a footy show and thinking he was a disgrace back then.

He's slimed his way onto 360 so we have to see more of him. What an absolute smack talker.
Have Ritchie and Porky Pig been seen in the same room together? 🤔

Yes, if one was available to recruit that would be an option, but I don't see them hanging on trees for 2027. We already have a quiet lead form the front type of leader in Api for next year, and he is getting on. But we need Benji to develop a short term fix now. Without being inside the walls, Sam F, appeared (from what I saw on Saturday) to still have respect from the team. If his character is true he could become the the leader we need in the short term. Only those in the system truly know and the key to leadership is about character more than anything else - which was the point I was getting at.

Leadership itself is situational, a good leader adapts his style to meet the task at hand. This is where Api lacks; he is definitley a leader, but his style is to lead from the front. While this is effective on the field it is not the motivational style that is required at different times - someone who can step back at times and be one of the boys, but step in with authority when required. Someone who has empathy, but makes hard right decisions even when the easy wrong ones can possible still get the job done. There is a fine line for them to tread normally, when you are taking about professional athletes where egos can be a huge issue, you need to have strong character to be successful.
What a pity that Adam Doueihi has these "hissy fits"- until what happened with him recently I would have thought he would have made a good leader !

I was thinking overnight what about Benji , and letting AD play , and the holistic view , as I actually think, once I removed my disgust for AD not playing from the picture , that this is what’s going on.
1. There’s issues with standards having deteriorated over the season . Whether it vaping , or general hygiene , maybe it’s dudes sitting in the sauna doing sweet F A when they should be in the hydro pool going through thier recovery programs . ( For those who don’t know , or have never done it , the hydrotherapy pool , is basically a warm pool- I’m not sure if there’s anything chemically different, and you’re giving a stretching and polymeric and low impact minor workout to relive your body’s stress and joint and ligmant issues . Almost heat into muscles helps with recovery etc. ) the reason I say that - is because I don’t think there would be too many eyeballs on that type of session , as it’s easy and person dependant . So very for dudes to take the piss and slack off .
2. Because there’s dudes taking the piss around the joint , others are seeing it , and when guys like luai and Benjis desire to finish the season with him , are amongst a core group of players who appear to getting favouritism , I can imagine how much friction that’s causing .
3. I genuinely believe after seeing ADs presser that it was the being dropped for the heir apparent , that was the straw that broke the camels back . Ie. he’d be seeing the perceived favouritism / standards dropped , would be feeling he is doing his , and now rather than correct the behaviours of those taking the piss, Benji has moved forward the succession plan . ( I don’t agree with this btw conclusion I just genuinely belive this is what ticked AD off ) .
4. After consulting other guys in the team apart of the leadership group , Benji discovered that these things were happening . I personally don’t understand how the leaders couldn’t have called it out earlier , but Reni Maitua made a point today basically after popular kids in the room being able to drown out the leaders and potential friction caused by the leadership group doing something about it . So I can sort understand how guys would have convinced themselves it wasn’t that bad and not worth the drama.
This all of the above has led to Benji yesterday deciding to let AS back in the team .
Which has pissed everyone off right ?
But what if the favouritism perception is true ? What is the best message for the team ? Don’t F with me . I’m the coach do what I say … here’s a 3 week stint at lidcombe oval AD ?
Or … if the favouritism stuff is true , whether perceived or otherwise , is the best message to say … “here’s your first and final chance . This bullshit stops now . You sit the factions down , you have some home truths , everybody sorts thier shit out and you move forward.
I fell like the best outcome is the latter right !
Because if toi say I’m making an example out of AD. Wouldn’t you run the risk further alienating the playing group , as some players would see the AD treatment as injustice.
The more I think about it, the more I think it could be a galvanising thing

In 2026, we have lost 7 games by a margin of 30+. It appears the only team in the NRL era that has done worse is the Knights in 2016 who lost 8 games by 30+.

In 2026, we have lost 4 games by 40+ margin, only 1 loss behind Magpies in 1999 (who lost 5 games 40+).

We could potentially hold the record for the most 30+ and 40+ losses in a season by seasons end.

I have strong concerns about the direction we are heading into. Something needs to give.

Yeah, but haven’t you seen how Benji handles the media at press conferences like a pro.

Benji has given me some of my best moments as a fan. 05 and the WC.
But this is not working.
If you weren't concerned you wouldn't be paying attention.
Those stats will get worse this year

Said this before Benji should have done his apprenticeship in the lower grades what we are seen is great PR work, but players going backwards in standards and ability, if the club and Benji standards where true and direct then Luai would be in KOE cup and AD would be in Ron Massey for a couple of weeks.

If club seriously wants to step forward then Shane Flanagan is not the answer to fix Benji's problem or club culture,
