Our Commander in Chief, Ivan Cleary will be on NR360 tonight from 6.30pm

Dont know what it is but you cant help but like the man. Everything he says is measured without being generic and makes sense.Have no idea how long he will be with us but we will certainly be better for it.

What a class act! Doesn’t give the generic coach’s non-answers and is obviously an intelligent bloke with a dry sense of humour. He thinks before he speaks.

His answer to how he and Nathan have interacted about Nathan coming back from injury before this week’s game was classic - “I asked Nathan whether any halfback has ever made 50 tackles?” 😀

My hacked Foxtel feed dropped out before I found out whether Mahe won the viewers’ choice. Did he?

Not sure whether it’s Kosher to quote your own posts here but Ivan should have suggested Nathan ask Mitch the same question.

He didn't deny the one ground quote completely, but clarified it, also he stated he was going to Leichhardt 30 or 40 years ago as a Balmain supporter, said nothing has changed, but he loved it.
You can tell he has a plan, he spoke about a rebuild would take 3 years (any club, not just us), also said you can have success during that time, buy players to get you there but may not be the players you ultimately want to keep you there.
Said it will be hard coaching against his son on Thursday, he doesn't particularly like to do it, which gives you the feeling that he wants to be his sons coach more than he is letting on.

Imagine telling the squad (and Packer) to keep the pressure on and target the half coming back from injury.

They actually asked him that, did you instruct Packer to target the half coming back from injury, he sort of danced around the question saying "they are smart players I will let them work it out".

He clearly does not like coaching against his son, and I gather neither does his wife. Thought he wouldnt have to this year with Nathan's injury.

If you were sitting in the trenches , he'd be the bloke you want standing beside you

Cool as a cucumber , obviously pretty close with Benny from the ol Bears days
