Coach Mick Potter to punt on Miller as halfback

The fact that Potter is actively saying he wants to see Miller at 7 is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Sheens.

In fact, a lot of the sense he is making is light years ahead.

Just puts it into perspective doesn't it? And a game hasn't even been played yet.

Lets not get carried away until the season. All this talk means nothing if the performances do not match up.

Tedesco returning through NYC is starting to look more likely if the article is correct. Not necessarily a bad thing, just as long as he isn't overlooked for too long.

Moltzen is a mystery for the future though, just where is he going to fit in to the puzzle once we get Teddy back? He never really showed any promise as a utility or a centre.

Yeah, but Meaney? You have a guy whose played about 10 fg games in 2 or 3 yrs in a leadership group ahead of guys like Galloway, Lote, Fulton and even Ayshford? maybe its because its 2 o'clock in the morning but that makes completely no sense at all

I've got this bad feeling Fulton won't be in the starting side ,possibly not even in the starting 17

I'm hoping the 'feeling' your having happy is due to the heat or being on medication. Our club had a terrible defensive record last year and you think Potter will leave out one of our best defenders? Fulton is one of the 1st picked week in week out. He always gives 100% and he's not gonna let you down.

Hard to disagree there LaT. Why would you drop one of the two standout forwards in 2012? Most importantly, he's versatile and adds starch to our defence on the fringes. It's madness not to have him in the team.

Had a great 2012 because everyone else excluding 1-2 had a very poor year…

But you dont have to be Einstein to realise that if Fulton is one of our Best Forwards, we are no chance of making the 8!

Lets hope ALL our recognised Forwards have a Big Year!

I understand what you're saying Watto, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he and Woods were both phenomenal for us though.

Moltzen should get the same chances as everyone else to play first grade in 2013\. If he impresses in the trials I'm all for him being our 1\. Getting away from sheens and knowing that he has to compete for his spot may bring out the best in him. I have my severe doubts but still, I'm not discounting him just because of his previous deficiencies.

Good post, fergiefurr. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the players can do away from Sheens' directives and influence. Who knows, Moltz may actually turn out to be a fully committed and aggressive fullback, who plays with heart and attacks the high ball! Perhaps his timid and indecisive play was only a result of the confusing nature of Sheens' coaching. I'm sure a lot of the players didn't know if they were Arthur of Martha under Sheens at times. It's heartening to hear that Potter is actually thinking of starting the season, at least, with guys playing in their rightful positions, so maybe we will see Moltzen and co playing in a whole new light…or perhaps not lol.

I take a different view though. Poor or just average players usually only go as well as others around them, they play to the teams current standard.

Better players rise above and perform well regardless of how his teams mates are going. And last year players like Fulton/Woods/Farah did just that IMO.

That Fulton had a great year when we went bad means he should collect more accolades not less. Imagine how well he could have gone without shouldering such a massive task?

Looking forward to seeing Lote this year there a couple of pics of him in the monday training gallery and he looks as fit as Koro is.

Excellent point LaT.

Fulton is a Footballer, not just a player. In fact, had Liam been at Storm or Manly, hitting good lines with quality service during his career, he would have played a lot of rep footy IMO.

Just a trivia point about Lote is that most people don't know or have forgotten that he was the allocated goal kicker for Queensland in the State of Origin matches around 2003\. Talking of goal kickers West Tigers now have a good share of capable goal kickers to choose from in 2013 - Marshall, Benji and Anasta.

Don't forget Miller, he has a pretty handy goalkicking record.

Do you seriously think sheens encouraged moltzen not to catch high balls or had any influence on him not catch them. The answer is no. That was all moltzen. Sheens is copping way to much blame for last year. I'm happy with a fresh coach but gee wiz lets get real. The players were out on the field.
