Coaches Corner

Even that tactic of deliberately kicking it over the sideline so early in the game was a gutless tactic. It was highlighting the statement "we cannot beat you blokes so we will just play negative footy to hopefully avoid a flogging". The only way we would have been any chance whatsoever of getting close to the Roosters would've been by playing as attacking as possible.
IMO Kimmorley is just a temporary talking head who is being told what style to play and which players to select every week since his appointment as HC. So I wonder who would've instructed him to tell the players that negative, gutless gameplan?
It seemed to me that the “game plan” rested upon relying on Rooster errors.

At least they didn’t yawn when they got over the line.

Butcher could be out for the season with the rare “try scorers arm”

He’s going in for scans and an operation over the off season. He should never have played.

Every so often we get a token leader type in the team, but it doesn’t seem to take long for us to convert them to our more comfortable culture. That sort of inner conflict may have caused James to blow up. I’m interested to see the next leader wheeled out (Api) to see if the club have changed course?
Madge appeared to be doing ok, with Hastings Doueihi Brooks, then bringing in Koroisau and Papali’i. 5 leaders is starting to reach the critical number where it’s cool to be a leader.
Would have loved to see Madge coach in 23.

He has to start putting his foot down now, maybe he has started tapping blokes on the shoulder telling them they're not required next year, maybe that's why they're not having a dig. They need to be reminded about personal pride and representing themselves, that loss was just soft, I don't think too many people expected us to win, but not to lose by 66 points, they need a rocket up them all.
Good point. It would not surprise me if a number of players have been told, 'services not needed' in the future. Not before time with some of them.

Just even the act of sacking Maguire was handled so pathetically.
The powers that be decide that it is a good idea to sack him on a Thursday or whatever it was, giving a rookie coach just 2 or 3 days to jump in and try to prepare the team for the next game. No surprise that we lost that game.
To at least soften the blow of an unfortunate situation surely someone with half a brain would've put forward the idea of doing it straight after the previous weeks' match to at the very least give the new coach a full week to prepare?
Extremely unprofessional club in every sense.
Hypothetically, If an administration was trying to kill off a football club in 10 years, what would they do differently to our current administration?

And would they have to spend the first few years fixing the issues of the previous administration...

Wonder whether Sheens and Benji would consider approaching the Walker Bros. as some form of attack consultants/tacticians if the rumours of Benji cleaning out the office are true.

Reason being is I know Sheens is always trying to think of ways to re-invent the game and thinks outside the box in terms of gameplay. Benji and Robbie were ad-lib players and I wonder whether having the Walkers input might help put some flair and creativeness back in our attack. They really lit up reserve grade with a different way of coaching a few years ago, some tactics we’re seeing a bit more in the
modern game this year with the short re-starts/drop-outs and risk/reward plays.

Just a thought I’ve considered could be something a bit different. Could they add something of value?

Robbie's pigheaded but his passion for us can't be denied.
Always had tigers in his heart but got screwed by that scarecrow cuck.
Robbie front of house might go OK.
Benji is all about himself.
I don't mind shifty coaching until we can get someone else but benji has to pretty much walk on water to get me back supporting him.
He's shit on us more than once
So no christmas card for Benji?

The most pathetic thing I heard today was Pascoe come out in his interview and state "we have been going in a downward spiral for the past 4 years" which was quite obviously a dig at Maguire.
Newsflash Pascoe you knobhead, you are supposed to jump in once the downward spiral is supposedly evident, no good doing it 4 years later. 4 years!!
What a goose, and we've got him at the steering wheel of our club for god knows how much longer. It's disgusting.

I didn't mind his interview.

Weren't easy questions.

Sounded like he was on sleeping tablets. Defeated. Give someone else a chance. Go back to selling stuff.

I’m having trouble understanding why they would highlight the last 4 years as a downhill slide?
Lee Hagipantelis said the same thing on SEN ..
“Saturday night represented the culmination of four years of a downhill spiral where things have not progressed or improved.”
I know I should be grateful for them getting their story in sync, but if it’s an accurate assessment then it does make their decision making even more mysterious?
In December 2020, after completion of the first 2 years of Madge’s 3 year contract, it seems our CEO and Chair thought he was doing a marvellous job.
So much so, that Madge was given a 2 year extension.
2021 was a bad year for Madge, with Covid in full swing and the board turning on him. By the end of 2021 they had tried to sack him, but sacked someone else instead. 😂

The fantasy that we have been going downhill for 4 years is probably being pushed by our CEO and the board to cover their collective rear ends.I would say we have been in a steep and very noticable decline for at least 3x that amount of time, but as usual they want to blame anybody but themselves for the debacle.
The reason we as a club are progressively getting worse stares back at them every morning in the bathroom

In fairness it's been downhill slide since 2012

He's argument is simple he and board provide the resources to the coach and football staff to win games.

It is fact Justin has created more resources.

The problem being he has provided those resources to the wrong people on multiple occasions.

How much longer can we continue sacking people for being the wrong people?
You know, sooner or later we need to come to the realisation that the organisation through its systems and procedures turns right people into wrong people.
I don’t include the players in that, it’s expected there will be constant turnover in players.
I understand that cashflow has been a problem, but it’s not the only issue.
