The only reason Sheens IS coach is because we couldn't attract another one.

That is not true because the club claimed that we had multiple applications for the job (17 from memory).I am sure that some of those applications would be far better than what we have at the moment because let's be honest i fail to see how it could be worse than what we have now.

Really? That's news to me. I thought Ciraldo was the only option, and he declined after kicking the tyres and checking under the hood. I thought that's why Buzz suggested Sheens coach and train up Benji, because no-one else would take the job. I'm curious to know who these 17 candidates were.

I still think that Madge would have been a revelation with this squad.

It is clear that He wasn't the problem

He would have kept Hastings who is an organising half that we so desperately need .
Madge can't develop players. thinks development happens through "training hard", as opposed to skills-based drills. I also highly doubt we would've had Klemmer or Bateman on the books if he was still here.

Tupou, Kepaoa, Simpkin, Pole and Blore have all grown another leg under Sheens. Brooks, despite his glaring deficiencies, has actually looked better in these first six weeks than he ever did under Madge. the spine is the major issue and it is being worked on.

yes Hastings would've been nice to have around, but he is terrible for team culture. he is a lemon. his public PR stunts are a front.

Really?
Where were they last year when we were actively searching for a coach?
It’s a poisoned chalice. Sheens took it on as no one else wanted it.
I don't know how you could say that, you know that could not possibly be right.

Lee himself said there was something like 16 or 17 applicants.

Surely you would know that as a highly respected lawyer and chairman of our board that he would be correct in what he is saying and that under no circumstances would he mislead us. 🤣

I disagree with all of this. Blore has been wrongly dropped for whatever reason & bar 2 good halves of football this season Brooks has never looked worse. The spine is a major issue & chopping & changing it every week isn't going to solve the issue which is what Sheens keeps doing. Old fella is a has been who is clearly way past it. Goes on the radio & says we have to wait another 3 more years pretty much whilst we have Api, Klemmer & Bateman all in their prime. Sheens is a joke along with Pascoe & Lee who are his yes men.

so you disagree with the fact that none of those players have improved since Sheens walked into the building? let's just wait and see on Blore in terms of being dropped, but I can't see how he hasn't come along since Sheens has taken over, or any of the other players I mentioned.

Brooks gave us more in the games against Newcastle, Canterbury and Parramatta than he did in three years under Madge. he's not the solution by any stretch but besides the Melbourne game I don't think he's never looked worse as you put it.

when Sheens talks three more years he means three more years until we are contending for premierships. I don't see how you can disagree with that. we are literally turning around the titanic. we need to blood these kids (Bula, Matamua, Pole, Da Silva, Feledy, etc), give them time to develop and put the miles in the legs and then you will begin to see an upturn. this roster is not good enough currently. in time it will be.

Hastings is a winner. I don't think it's a coincidence Knights have been competitive every game now that he is there.
name one thing he's won besides a Man of Steel and a wooden spoon. I have no doubts about his playing abilities as a solid halfback but some of the stories that came out of WT while he was here speak to the type of character he is.

I thought he just said until we're "competitive", which is ambiguous. I doubt we'll be contending for a premiership in the next three years. Hell, a top eight finish will be a miracle.

Blore never really got a solid crack under Madge because he was injured for a lot of it but the narrative that Madge didn't improve players was false. He developed Luch into an 80 minute back rower when we couldn't even stay on the field for 50 minutes, turned Ryan Matterson into an origin player, Daine Laurie had his best season under Madge as well as Stefano, & Adam Doueihi had a career best season in 2021 under Madge. Stefano I'd even say has regressed under Sheens.

Brooks was never consistent in those games though, he has little patches of good moments where he does things well but for majority of the game he is anonymous. I think this is one of Brooks worst ever seasons, he hyped up all pre season that he was going to play an off the cuff attacking style of footy which we just haven't seen from him. I know it's unfair to put it all solely one player but he is the halfback at the end of the day & halfbacks are the orchestra of the side arguably the most important player.

Sheens spends all pre season hyping up Matamua & has only played him for for a total of 30 minutes this seaosn. My problem with Sheens is he is very inconsistent with his messaging & backtracks on everything he says. Says AD is the best FB at the club then moves him back to 5/8 the next week. Says he's settled on his spine with AD, BW, Brooks & Api then BW gets dropped the next week. It's disrespectful to the club & it's disrespectful to the fans to change the narrative every week & expect us to eat it up.

All I know is we haven't won a game with Brooks at 7 since 2021. I just want to see something different for once. Hastings was an organiser something we desperately need, Brooks is not. I actually would've been very happy with Brooks at 6 & Hastings at 7 this season but again senile Sheens thinks he's too slow.

You could sack Sheens tomorrow and you would have plenty coaches lined up , Hook , Dess , Flanno , Brown , Potter , they won’t give. Hoot about previous goings on , it’s a job , And I don’t believe Flanno was spoken to before sheens , Manly going ok and it’s not Sebot it’s Flanno
Is that why we had half a dozen coaches lining up for the job when they axed Madge?

Oh wait.

We are all curious to know but we will never find out as it is highly unlikely the club will disclose that information.

I can’t agree with your middle paragraph unless they only had one leg to begin with.

Tupou was green from rugby and needed time. Blore was playing well before injury. Simpkin wasn’t even picked last game. Brooks has had his usual ok game. I thought he was ok most of last year. He has a much stronger pack to play behind this year so should look better. Kepaoa still can’t catch. Pole I don’t know much about so I can’t comment. And I’ll add Laurie has regressed under Sheens.

I love how everyone is stating they want Flanagan and hate Sheens as coach.

I remember very distinctly last year when talk of Madge's demise was confirmed that a few of us wanted Flanno instead of Ciraldo and we were overwehelmingly shouted down by the vast majority of this forum. More than a few members on here were stating that they would give back their membership if Flanno was hired.
Just as overwhelming was the support for Sheens as the right choice for coach once Ciraldo signed at the Dogs. Any negative comments about his procurement were hammered.

Opinions change very quickly with this club....

Yes that is my point.
Sack him early and watch the tumbleweeds roll down the street.
My opinion is he should never have gotten rid of Madge before confirming his replacement. Sheens is not a good coach and Benji will be a disaster.
That said, we are stuck with them due to the way we have played our cards.
I hope they come good in some fashion.

Yeah 16 or 17....and we went with a long retired guy in his 70's and a bloke who has never even coached at u/5's level.
Lee is a dipshit.
