Lay off the pipe you guys who think Madge was a good coach. He was terrible. He had no answers. Our team was poorly skilled and couldn't do many of the fundamentals that are taught in junior football.

I always thought we sacked madge, were searching for a coach when the infamous 'grappa' lunch happen.
So they decided to not review anyone else and go with this stupid 5 year plan

Yeah 16 or 17....and we went with a long retired guy in his 70's and a bloke who has never even coached at u/5's level.
Lee is a dipshit.
Yes, I heard 17 applications sitting on his desk. You know, stories change over time. Sheens originally accepted full responsibility and stated it was his idea to sack Madge. However, more recently on 2GB he said he acted on the board’s directive given to him.

🤣 but now they can?
That $70m spent on the Centre of Excellence has been a master stroke by the CEO.
Do you think we will win a game soon?

Red win and Restaurants that’s what happens when you mix the 2
you get pissed people coming up with great ideas
Sheens , Benji , Robbie
instead of
Flanno and his side kicks

So Sheens pretty much did Pascoe's dirty work and sacked Madge himself after he was given the clear from the board, while Pascoe and the team sit back and watched the dread all unfold. Geeee Hypocrite Fraud Weak Gutted Dogs right there.

I love how everyone is stating they want Flanagan and hate Sheens as coach.

I remember very distinctly last year when talk of Madge's demise was confirmed that a few of us wanted Flanno instead of Ciraldo and we were overwehelmingly shouted down by the vast majority of this forum. More than a few members on here were stating that they would give back their membership if Flanno was hired.
Just as overwhelming was the support for Sheens as the right choice for coach once Ciraldo signed at the Dogs. Any negative comments about his procurement were hammered.

Opinions change very quickly with this club....

I didn't think Ciraldo was the right appointment from the outset and I would have preferred Flanno from the start. I was pushing for Flanno or Bomber. As they say though you always have to be careful what you wish for. I mean, I will put my hand up and say I thought Sheens would have probably been a better result than Ciraldo but obviously based on 2023 thus far that wasn't a correct assessment.

Hiring Benji with a 2 year apprenticeship was plain lunacy.

As you say, we're in it for the long haul now though, if they sack Sheens they may as well fold the place.

Can only dream.

We're locked into a bizarre coaching plan.

Sheens/Benji can do whatever they like because they're guaranteed jobs until at least 2026, though I'm sure they won't sack Benji that quickly.
My thought as well benji will get a couple of years.
Bali in early september is a good place to get your jersey signed for the next few years....

At least he would boot one of the apprentices
If Sheens starts to feel the heat badly don't be surprised if Sheens uses Madame Guillotine on Robbie as he will need a sacrifice and he hopes that Robbie is far enough up the greasy pole to appease the incompetents on the board and the media.

Surely Furners first on the chopping block,
especially with his less than impressive
resume, Jad. Don't know how he got the
gig in the first place (Sheens' old mate) lol

I am not sure that Furner would be an "acceptable sacrifice" to keep the heat of Sheens, unfortunately Farah could well be at the lowest level to satisfy the powers that be.As is always the case it will be a knee jerk reaction to cover peoples arses which is something our club excells in.
I certainly wouldn't sack Robbie as i feel he can be part of a better WT structure in the future.

Now that I think about it, I never heard anyone from the board continually referring to Madge as “the great man.”

Really?
Where were they last year when we were actively searching for a coach?
It’s a poisoned chalice. Sheens took it on as no one else wanted it.
That's what we are told...
and I kinda don't believe it. Heck Noddy wanted it, poor guy he really took a hit for us.
Now looking at the squad Sheens has, IMHO our recruitment was as good as the Dolphins. Sure we missed moses but Paps and API are top shelf players this year and you could say the same about Bateman. Klemmer many reckon is good and he is at least a first grade forward.

I totally disagree with the comments above. Sheens needs to prove himself or get the axe. Every good club has fired their coaches after they don't perform. The only time we have fired our coaches is once with Mick Potter due to a media interview, once to Taylor because of what a stuff-up he was and the players revolted and once because after 3.5 years we were clearly going backwards.

Well keep firing till we go forwards.

You could sack Sheens tomorrow and you would have plenty coaches lined up , Hook , Dess , Flanno , Brown , Potter , they won’t give. Hoot about previous goings on , it’s a job , And I don’t believe Flanno was spoken to before sheens , Manly going ok and it’s not Sebot it’s Flanno
100% agreed.

Siebold was a total disaster at Brisbane. Look Dymmock has something good to offer, but Flanno has to be the one driving Manly.

We need a coach that can go from 16-1 and heck we have prepared our team well in getting 16th! (now 17th)
