Unless Steve Georgallis does something unbelievable with Penrith, Ivan Cleary will be coaching the Panthers next year.

so the dragons, knights, panthers, rabbits, have all confirmed coach changes for next year, and the warriors, dogs, raiders have all but got rid of their boss.

i know sheens isn't very popular on here, but it is great the club has a bit of stability imo.

the Warriors have already said they won't release Cleary who is under contract for next yr,so it doesn't realy matter how Georgie goes

Ask Gibbsy and Fifita about the club's stability.

Gibbsy and Fifita have club stability they have signed 3 year deals with the sharks so they have plenty, and so do the tigers to rid it self of players that cause instability.

ivan cleary's kid has been telling his friends they are moving to Sydney next year

Cleary will be at the panthers

Maybe we should take Georgallis if Cleary comes. Humpty can pay out Sheen's contract out of his own pay.

Well I don't know about shafting Sheens for a rookie coach, but would be worth a look to become an assistant with us. We need some of those don't we?

Phil Gould has confirmed the appointment of Ivan Cleary as head coach for the next three seasons.

Gould, Penrith's general manager of football, will hold a press conference at 11am after the Warriors announced that Cleary was leaving the club at the end of the season to join the Panthers.

"This is a wonderful result for the club and marks the beginning of a new era for the Penrith Panthers," Gould said.

"Ivan has enjoyed an outstanding career in rugby league, proving himself to be a player and coach of the highest standards. Ivan's character, professionalism and experience made him to the perfect candidate for this important position at the Panthers.

"Ivan Cleary is the man best qualified to take our club into the future.

"At this time we would like to thank the NZ Warrior's management for their professionalism and understanding in dealing with this matter.

"We wish the Warriors and Ivan all the best for the remainder of the 2011 season."

While Cleary was contracted until the end of the 2012 season, Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah said both parties had agreed on an early release enabling Cleary to take up a three-year contract as Penrith's new coach.

“There has been a lot of speculation about Ivan's future in recent weeks,” said Scurrah.

“This followed an approach by Phil Gould, which Ivan informed us of. At that point, both Ivan and the club confirmed a commitment to see out the full term of his contract to the end of the 2012 season. We also agreed to talk at a later date about the future beyond 2012.

“While we were discussing the potential to extend Ivan's contract over the last week, it became apparent to both parties that Ivan had a chance to secure his long-term coaching career with Penrith immediately and that we were not in a position at the moment to guarantee a similar term. Given the circumstances, it also became clear to both of us that it wouldn't have been in anyone's interests for Ivan to fulfil the last year of his contract with the Vodafone Warriors when he had an immediate opportunity offering him significant security elsewhere.

“We're excited for Ivan that he has this opportunity at this stage of his career and we're grateful to him for the fantastic contribution he has made to the Vodafone Warriors.”

Majority shareholder Eric Watson paid tribute to Cleary for his efforts for the club both as a player and as NRL coach.

“Ivan has played a pivotal role with this club, initially on the field in helping us to reach our first grand final in 2002 and later as both an assistant coach and then our head coach,” he said.

“We really appreciate all he has done in reviving the club and wish him all the best with Penrith. He'll certainly be an asset for them.”

Warriors players were informed of Cleary's departure at a meeting this morning, but the club is yet to announce a replacement.

Cleary's assistant Toy Iro and former Kiwis coach Brian McClennan are the favourites.

Then sign him up! Maybe management will then see what we've been missing out on. :deadhorse:
