What I'd like to know is why we've never scoured the SL again after signing Ellis. Canberra are showing what a goldmine that competition can be. You've just got to look.

Yea it's a bit strange. I'd be putting Gareth on as a scout or something along those lines to keep an eye on the SL talent.

Absolutely! Hodgson would have connections as well. It boggles the mind we haven’t gone down that road again considering our cap restrictions and our success with Ellis.

@GNR4LIFE I'm not trying to make this club look incompetent, I want them not to be. Maybe I take more convincing that another person that we are on the away up. Losses this year in big games sure made it look like same old same old. The first Penrith game, the two Bulldogs games, the last Sharks game.

After so long, I need to see a little more to feel confident that we are actually moving forward. A big signing would help.

Problem with the ESL is blokes like Rankin and Lolohea look the goods (like last night )

Good scouts can tell the difference.

Now we need to just sign a good scout ....then we can sign some good players

Maybe we are one step closer

If you want to find a gem from the ESL, it’s going to be from the forwards, forget the backs, the titans centre and the plodders you mentioned prove that.

What about that Pommy winger that went over to Easts this season? He’s never been given a good go in first grade really since they signed Morris and ended up keeping Tupou. What I saw of him looked ok though.

@Spud_Murphy I don’t think he is better than what we have tbh. He is similar to Mahe, big body who is good at getting us out of our own end, probably better under the high ball, but not quicker either.

@matchball If we starting playing semi final footy every so often we might sign some quality. Every time we get close to getting out of this hole, we fall back in deeper and it's bloody frustrating.

Mate I've been saying his name for a few months. He is coming off an ACL so naturally would take a bit of time plus ther adjustment to NRL. We should definetly be looking at him for next year.

I've become numb to it personally.

If we do loose Ryan there are only two options that will statisfy me
A. Package deal with Reynolds swapping for AJ n Arrow
B. Tyson Frizzzzzzel

You'll be disappointed..

No doubt, so what outcome are you expecting Geo? Anything beneficial for us?

If he goes to Parra I would like Nathan Brown (the player)

Hmmm wouldn’t be bad, but can’t see it happening. Brown seems pretty happy at Parra.

What about if he ends up at the Titans? Ryan James maybe?

Ryan James you say hmmm 2nd ACL..tick ...getting on ..tick..

Injured James doing it tough watching from the sidelines

Injured Titans captain Ryan James admits he has been doing it tough watching his team’s season unravel while he recovers from a knee reconstruction.

James revealed he is slightly ahead of schedule with his rehabilitation after rupturing his ACL in the Titans’ win over Newcastle in Round 6, and is hoping to resume running in four weeks.

“I have done four treadmill sessions in the water now, and we are slowly dropping down the water level so it is more like running on land,” James said.

“It is coming along nicely, and I get a little break over the next couple of weeks and then straight back into it. The knee is coming along fine, and hopefully if everything keeps going along on schedule I should be back to rip into it on the first day of pre-season.”

But James confesses he has felt helpless watching on as the Gold Coast’s finals hopes evaporated with a mid-season slump, and being unable to get onto the field to help his beloved Titans.

**“It is tough,” James said. “Especially as I’m getting pretty old now, so you just want to play as much footy as you can.

“It is tough watching footy from the sidelines. You just want to go out there and represent where you come from.

“I am a proud Gold Coaster and I love pulling on that Titans jersey and representing where I come from ever week.**

“Missing pretty much a full year of footy definitely hurts, so it is going to be good to go away and freshen up for a couple of weeks and then come back and get into footy mode.”

At least he loves his Club...tick

We have to assure ourselves a finals spot BEFORE the last round of the comp. We never win the last round if the game is a “must win”.

@cqtiger Remember as Balmain in 1990, we were like 2nd or 3rd with two weeks to go, then lost to Eels in our last game vs Srerlo, then in our last game vs Knights we again lost, forcing a playoff a few days later vs Knights again...

Wests Tigers star Ryan Matterson is free to negotiate with rival clubs

Wests Tigers have granted Ryan Matterson permission to negotiate with other clubs in a move that will expedite his departure from the club.

Parramatta, Gold Coast and St George Illawarra are among the teams interested in Matterson’s services and are now free to begin formally negotiating with his management.

Matterson has been unsettled at the joint-venture outfit for some time and first raised the issue with coach Michael Maguire three months ago.

The 24-year-old is on $350,000 and $425,000 respectively for the next two years of his Tigers deal. He will be able to command significantly more elsewhere given he was on the cusp of selection for the NSW State of Origin team.

@Madge This happened a week ago...

Matto isn't a fan of Madge so it follows that Madge is probably the last to hear this...
