I wonder if CHN's punishment would have been the same if Okunbor hadn't done what he'd done. I believe CHN was not aware the girl was from a school he visited, even if he may have known she was school-age, he met her at a nightclub and did not set that meeting up.

Then banging a teacher, there's nothing wrong with that at all apart from his club probably not being appreciative of CHN's member doing a lot of the talking during the trip. I bet everyone has at least 1 teacher they would like to have banged as a young lad or ladette.

The girls was not from the school that CHN visited, that is why most considered his offence not as serious as Okunbor. Toddy has helped his old mates at the dogs out by giving them 2 less players to pay.

Even though the season has been suspended, surely they have to have 29 players under contract the same as every other club. They should be forced to upgrade someone.

But did he meet her at a nightclub, because if he met this girl at a night club, does that mean she was alluding to be over the age of 18

Did she have fake Id

Was she actually in the club ? Under age

If so the nightclub owners/ manager have something to answer to as well

If this is the case, should Corey have be deregistered, or just fined and suspended
If he knew 100% she was a school girl, under 18 years of age and in a Night club, and arranged the meeting then that looks bad

But guess what, he hasn't done anything illegal.
I don't like it at all but it's not illegal

So we are back to It just doesn't look good And that I believe is why he is deregistered

No assault was made
I don't know of a complaint but could be wrong

We don't know the exact details and never will
If Corey believes he is hard done by he will fight the decision

For what it's worth
I wouldn't want him at our club

I would like to know the girls story of event's but that won't be made public

The optics were poor and both should have gone out to their way to be model human beings. The age of the women is a non starter as both knew what was expected. Non fraternisation orders are issued for a reason. Hard lesson but no doubt all players were warned of expectations.

Ah man some of you guys are being way too harsh on Harawira-Naera. He didn't do anything illegal and in my opinion, particularly immoral. Sure it was stupid to breach the team code like that showing immaturity and a lack of judgment, but when there's several players who had broken the law in the offseason that played in round 1, and a number of other players in the league who have committed some bad crimes and are still on contracts, this is certainly excessive.

I think he'd be a great pick-up. The punishment severely outweighs the action so I'm sure he'll be remorseful, and given circumstances with the pandemic, I can there'd be a degree of gratefulness to be able to secure a contract and play again next year.

It depends I guess on whether he continued on after knowing her age

She was 17 so the age isn't so relevant, it's the fact she was a school person and whether or not he'd been to that school.

I would expect that very many school-age girls, up to and including 18, have slept with footballers over the decades.

I have to give you an example of what I had encountered many years ago playing football with the great Turvey Park in Wagga...we had a night at Cocos nightclub after a Saturday game under lights at Wiesell Oval the main oval at Wagga at the time,it is no longer there..I was with about 4 of my teammates just talking and drinking copious amounts of Carlton Draught..
An extraordinary gorgeous chick joined us ,she was visiting relatives at the time and she was from Sydney, she looked about 19/20 yrs of age and 1 of my mates started to dance and drink with her while we just enjoyed the night...after about an hour our mate joined us at the table and I said how you going with the chick from Sydney,he said I think I will let her go,she told me she is only 14 and goes to a private school in Sydney..so as much as these guys have proved to be irresponsible toward their contractual agreements with the NRL, I wont fully blame them for what has transpired ...girls can get what they want if the other party is to weak to walk away as my mate did that many years ago.

these two are clearly grubs with no thought process whatsoever....

good riddance to them.

Ah, glass houses.

Anyway my understanding was that nothing illegal took place but both players took the young ladies back to the team hotel. A no no apparently.

As I understand it Okunbor met his young lady at school during a visit. CHN wasn’t there and met his girl working at her job?
Obviously both in trouble for taking them back to the team hotel but what Okunbor did was much worse.

In the text messages, he even asks "Were you at school today?"

Whether you think the punishment is harsh or not for CHN the point is he knowingly disobeyed a number of strict team rules and guidelines, he showed little respect for his teammates and none for his club. Maybe that’s not the sort of behaviour you reward with an invitation to join your team.

Did Curtis Scott get convicted for punching a Police Officer? Lol

I thought it strange that an nrl player would need stitches in the head from just walking home with a few under the belt.

If Harawira-Naera committed the same indiscretions while working for an ASX 200 company, would he be sacked?

You wouldn’t hear about it

hundred percent. At what stage does it seem ok for a guy in his mid 20s to creep on a schoolgirl he met at a work function, then proceed to ask her about school? What mindset does this show? An absolute flogbag and good riddance to him.

Will have to change our name to Wests Tigers Bulldogs if we keep taking their rejects 🤦‍♂️

Who are we taking?

The only two players who have really performed since leaving the Bulldogs have surnames of Morris.
We let both go when both would have walked up in our backline.

Bit creepy considering Okunbur met them at their school no?

Look even if we all agree that CHN isn't as guilty as Okunbar , he hasn't kicked on from his initial years and we will have far better options available

If the Salary Cap drops significantly as predicted all contracts will be null and void

Not sure I can agree with that Hap, he was one of their best players last year... if not the best.
