Parramatta NRL star Corey Norman has been linked to a police investigation after capsules were allegedly seized at Sydney's The Star casino on Friday.

Norman was with a group of men who were stopped outside the entrance of the casino for a routine security check late on Friday night.

Several capsules in a small container were alleged found by security staff on a 25-year-old man.

The man was spoken to by security staff but allowed to leave.

Police said today that enquiries into the matter were continuing.

Fairfax reported Norman was with a group of friends and it was believed he was not in possession of the capsules but was part of the police investigation.

"Shortly before 11pm on Friday 20 May 2016, a 25-year-old man was searched by security officers as he entered a venue on Pyrmont Rd, Pyrmont," police said in a statement.

"The man allegedly produced a small container holding several capsules. He was spoken to by security officers but was allowed to leave.

"Police were subsequently contacted and officers from Sydney City Local Area Command are continuing with their enquires into the matter."

Police were reviewing CCTV footage of the incident and the capsules were sent for forensic analysis.

Norman was at Eels training today ahead of their clash with Melbourne tomorrow night when Parramatta resume their quest to overcome the loss of 12 competition points due to salary cap breaches and claim an unlikely finals berth.

The NRL integrity unit has been made aware of the incident.

I suppose you can hangout with who ever you want, but it is not a good look to be mixing with some people who you might say are dubious at best.

Since when are security allowed to search people?

I was not allowed into Star City because I refused to let the security guards frisk me and run a metal detector over me upon entry.

Needless to say I kicked up an almighty stink and management was called .. they ended up quietly apologising and allowing me entry anyway.

In saying that, the joint is a dank hole that I try and avoid these days.

Parramatta NRL star Corey Norman has been charged with drug offences following an investigation into MDMA capsules allegedly seized from the player at Sydney's The Star casino.

Norman was with a group of men who were stopped outside the entrance of the casino late on Friday night for a security check.

Police say a 25-year-old man is set to face Downing Centre Local Court on July 13 charged with possess prohibited drug and possess prescribed restricted substance.

The Eels five-eighth was also one of three NRL players officially warned by NSW police on Wednesday for consorting with convicted criminals.

Norman and Junior Paulo, along with Norman’s housemate, Penrith hooker James Segeyaro, were issued with official warnings after the posting of a photo on social media.

The photo, posted by Paulo on his Instagram account, allegedly showed them dining with former senior Nomad boss Paulie Younan and accused fraudster and money launderer Rafat Alameddine last Friday night, according to Fairfax Media.

A person can be charged with consorting if they habitually consort with convicted offenders. The maximum penalty for consorting is three years in prison

It's not a problem if anyone isn't carrying anything that they shouldn't ,I don't know why anyone would object.
The more places that have security checks, the safer it becomes.
All sorts of weapons are carried by idiots these days,
And if they're carrying drugs then they deserve everything that they get.
Plus I love a good pat down.

It's becoming an American policed state.

Funny they never check one on the way out after you've left your money in there lol.

That's because you're lucky if you walk out with your pants and the shirt on your back.

Reckon the way our team is going they may need to search fans on the way to games for "energy drinks '.

Some supporters may require something to help get them through our games the way were playing.

:roll

They can make it a condition of entry that you allow them to search you if they want. They can't forcibly search you but they can turn you away if you don't submit to a search.

I'd be suspicious of someone who refused to have a metal detector passed over them as well TBH.
It is only there to make the place safer after all, couldn't really see why someone would refuse to be checked by the metal detector unless they were carrying something dodgy.
