The Bulldogs have signed up former Wests Tigers lock Corey Payne to a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old is the seventh post-season Bulldogs signing following the captures of Dene Halatau (Wests Tigers), Mickey Paea (Dragons), Steve Turner (Storm), Junior Tia Kilifi (Panthers), Blake Green (Sharks) and Tim Browne (Sea Eagles).

Bulldogs coach Kevin Moore believes Payne will add depth to the squad after Greg Eastwood left to play with the Leeds Rhinos in the European Super League next season.

"Corey's an aggressive, tough backrower with good ball skills and as a local junior he was really keen to come back to the Bulldogs," Moore said.

"His ability to cover a number of roles within our forward pack makes him a valuable acquisition to our club."

Payne has played 88 senior games since debuting for St George Illawarra in 2005.

He played 47 matches with the Dragons and 41 with the Tigers.

thankyou bulldogs!
We've had some bad second rowers at the club and Corey Payne can take pride in being one of them

Yeh very average player the best thing about him was his community work which was A++++++! All the best to him any way..

Was never more than an average first grade player and wasnt really going anywhere. Think he'll be up against BRET and Wests next year though…

Good luck to him but yeah, one the Tigers more inept signings over the last few years.

Best of luck to the guy.

He was surplus to our needs at WT but glad to hear he was able to secure a contract somewhere else

Top bloke in person and one of the smarter blokes ive met in league.

Mostly played out of position by Sheens. Thought he did well for us in the back half of the season.

Consistant and reliable.

Hope he does well personally and that the Dogs go miserabley.

Hate the bulldogs more than anything in the world…

great great person Corey Payne. Surely he'll be missed the club for all his charity and community work. Corey is an ambassador for all human beings and the best of luck to him at bulldogs. Thank you Corey Payne for the memories.

What was his position….....He didn't perform that well for Us no matter where Sheens played him...but a top bloke off the field.....

Best of Luck at the Scum dogs......interested to see how he goes actually.....

A bit like Ryan Tandy and look what happened to him this year, a premiership ring on his finger, so a change maybe what Payne needs.

Highlight of his Tigers career was putting one on Lagi Setu's jaw in 2008\. We don't need him, but we should have kept Galea.

He'll be a good fit at the Dogs.

Agressive in D and I think it'll improved the clubs image even more with the new culture the club has developed (Not the fans).

I bet now that he is at the Dogs he will gain massive publicity for his charity work despite the fact he has been doing it for years.

Best of luck Corey.
