He seems to have turned up just in time. Big 12 months coming up.

Phil Gould Pointed out that he was in charge of racing during the equine flu , so he actually had experience guiding an industry through this . Extremely lucky when you look at it like that .

Watching this first one with no crowds tonight got me thinking. Do you think people will feel less engaged with their clubs if they can’t go live? Especially now that they can’t form groups at the pub?
I can to most games live and know it’s going to feel very different watching on TV on Sunday.

Nothing against the Warriors but this might be an opportune time to dissolve them out of the NRL, they offer absolutely nothing to the game in all seriousness. The 6 or 7 first-grade standard players they have could be offered up to the bottom 6 or 7 clubs from last season or something. RTS at WT would fit in nicely.

Great thinking. I mean, it must be only, what, a quarter of NRL players that come from New Zealand. Let's leave young Kiwis with no team in the comp, it's not like there's any other rugby code over there they'd be tempted to try.

Edit: plus, as Tigers fans maybe we ought to be a little cautious about suggesting teams get pruned from the NRL based on what they supposedly offer. The Warriors were in a grand final in 2011 and last played finals in 2018. Not sure what metric you're using to determine that they "offer absolutely nothing" but they sure seem to perform better than we do.

A quarter of NRL players come from NZ? Aahh I see, you're using the same thinking that allowed blokes such as Tonie Carroll to play for QLD, NZ and Australia. Good one.
A quarter or more NRL players are Polynesian, not New Zealanders.
Warriors "perform better than WT do" might be a subjective argument. They have been by and large a Kiwi Test side yet they haven't won a premiership.
I wouldn't trade our squad for theirs at the moment either just quietly.

I think the point about which team perform best being subjective is sort of my point. We'd do well not to point fingers given it's certainly far from obvious that the Tigers are definitively better.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan says the league will go on a complete 30-day shut down in the event of a player contracting coronavirus. A handful of players have been tested for COVID-19 amidst the AFL's fight to ensure the virus doesn't stop the new season from going ahead. Speaking on 3AW on Friday, McLachlan confirmed some players are currently in quarantine, and while there have been no confirmed cases, the AFL would go into lock down for at least one month if a player tested positive.

"We'll certainly stand down for a minimum of 30 days," McLachlan said. "At the moment in terms of our protocols, we need to make sure that our protocols are completely tight."

McLachlan said the AFL was proud to offer some relief in what is otherwise a testing time and believes fans will become accustomed to the new viewing experience.Mason Cox

Thank god he did. Could you imagine how much Greenberg would stuff up this situation if it was left to him to make decisions? The NRL would have gone down in a screaming heap within days. Lucky we have a real man calling the shots.
