If you were a NRL player right now, what would you say to these morons if you had the chance?

They're literally putting every NRL players career in jeopardy.
How can the NRL be taken seriously about sticking to the guidelines in order to get the game started again after seeing these two clowns?

I agree with Gould, sack them

Perhaps they don't feel the rules should apply to them...and the mental health of they bros and culture were more important

These indigenous players are always harping on about respect, yet they show none of it when the TV cameras aren't on them.

They're either incredible dumb or they just don't care, I'm leaning towards the latter, and if that's the case they need to go.

A responsible player would have told someone beforehand what was going on ......if what we are hearing is true , family comes 1st .....I know if family member told me they needed help even at these times I'd drop everything ...but I would tell everyone 1st what I was doing

If you take these actions ...you wear the responsibility of these actions

You don't then hide behind your religion ,race , marital status or sex

It was mentioned his family was doing it tough but they were in Sydney. JAC was born in Sydney - he has no ties to Taree or the Biripi people. Just pulls the culture card when he is caught out. And since when has riding motorbikes on beaches been part of Aboriginal culture.

40,000 years ago in the dream time the Aboriginal people dreamed of having guns for hunting and dirt bikes for beating around the bush on.

This pair of cretins are just living the dream.

From 'The Drum' tonight on ABC TV just before the 7pm news @hank37w, the moderator and one of the panel being interviewed (both Koori) were defending Mitchell and JAC and said they were surprised by the heavy fine imposed, as it was very important in Aboriginal Culture that they support their people on Country.

Sounds a lot like claiming religious freedom.

I can cop the needing to get away from whatever problems some may have to go Bush or camping and allow some benefit of the doubt, some, but they rightly still received the standard state fine. As for bikes on the beach and the unlicenced use of guns in a group at this time, well, they deserve harsh punishment.

The season will not last the 20 rounds... the bench mark was made today . Do the wrong thing a massive fine will be given that you do not have to pay and a game suspension will be imposed that you do not have to serve .. the NRL have put a noose around there own neck and they will deserve everything that comes from today’s decision for being weak administrators.

Nothing has changed .... unfortunately.

The extra 5 rounds will be interesting ...lets see who gets who

How Bennett and Robinson can be involved in this .......

I think the NRL should model the NFL approach and apply a mix of rivalry matches, say for 3 of the 5 games, then balance any unfairness by basing the other 2 matches on strength of schedule and 2019 ladder position. You could determine the rivalry matches by splitting teams into 4 groups based on geography:

West (Tigers, Panthers, Eels, Bulldogs)
East (Roosters, Souths, Manly, Knights)
South (Storm, Raiders, Sharks, Dragons)
North (Broncos, Cowboys, Titans, Warriors)

Each team plays the rivals in their group, making up 3 of the 5 extra rounds.

Now, using this approach means some teams get an easier draw. Eg Broncos get to play Titans and Warriors twice. So you need to offset this by giving them tougher match ups in the remaining 2 rounds. I did some mathematical modelling and came up with the following draw for the remaining 2 rounds, which takes into account both strength of schedule in the 3 rounds above, alongside ladder position from 2019.

Round 19
Roosters v Raiders
Storm v Broncos
Souths v Eels
Manly v Sharks
Tigers v Cowboys
Panthers v Knights
Bulldogs v Titans
Dragons v Warriors

Round 20
Roosters v Storm
Raiders v Souths
Eels v Broncos
Manly v Tigers
Sharks v Panthers
Cowboys v Bulldogs
Knights v Warriors
Titans v Dragons

In the example above, it looks like the Dragons get it easiest. But because they have the toughest draw in the rivalry rounds 16-18 (vs Storm, Raiders and Sharks) and because they finished 15th in 2019 then they get an easier draw in the final two matches.

Also by coincidence, with such a fair draw, you end up with some blockbusters and rivalries even in the final two rounds, including the gf rematch.

Draw done. No need to pay the Canadian consultants to pull this together... Mic drop!

Except when Robinson and Bennett are involved I’m sure they’d reject having a tougher draw. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Roosters and Souths playing Titans and Warriors twice.

Joining the band of being over NRL players. I will always defend their right to have a private life not scrutinized by the public - but not right now.
The excuses are falling on deaf ears. If ever there was an opportunity to be made accountable for poor choices - now was the time. They continue to laugh in the face of society, and I feel sorry for the players who actually get it which surely there must be at least a few.

I am sure the majority of players do understand but in any group of people you will always find some who just dont give a rats about anyone else and think rules only apply to others.

So has there been any more on whether the comp is restarted? While I would love to see Parra start again on 0 points, it really isn't fair and I would much rather see Easts on 0 points over Parra.

Well that means they could only win 4 of those 6 as we all know we will beat them twice

If anyone has spent any time around NRL players you'll know what (most) of them are like, I won't mention his name but a friend of mine that played for 2 different clubs a few years back has told me things that don't surprise me at all from my experience being around footy players.

I used to sometimes drive my friend to training, he didn't have a licence and we used to Jam inbetween morning and afternoon training sessions and sometimes his ride (his team mate who I also won't mention but is very well known for being loose) wouldn't turn up to pick him up.

I also answered the phone many times while my mate was taking a shower before training to this same teammate who would tell me he'd be there in 10 to pick my mate up for training, then not show up.
Still to this day I don't understand what was going on in this guy's head.

The only clue I'll give is he is currently involved in the media.

This embarrassing, pathetic punishment only reinforces the fact that Beattie, Pearce and the rest of the NRL board must be removed. They are grossly incompetent as has been proven once again. Getting rid of the head Muppet in Greenberg has done nothing, I am praying, for the sake of the game's immediate future, that the rest of these fools get sacked as well. ASAP.
Not sure how much input Abdo had in this decision seeing as he is so new to the CEO position, but it is probably also a strong sign that he definitely isn't the right man for the job long-term.
"We'll suspend you but you won't need to serve that suspension". Fair dinkum, that beggars belief. Still can't believe it.
That'll teach 'em!
Expect more players to flaunt the rules like these 4 players whilst this lockdown is still in place, with laughable 'punishments' like this it is an absolute certainty IMO. Fun times ahead....

Any sportsmen or women acting like a richard cranium should be band for a year. Some really think the rules don't apply to them.
If the aussie govt had balls they would cancel the season as there has to be strict controls around it and just say we know rugby league players can't be trusted so they can all take there pay cuts.
So over these morons

So, punish the majority for the actions of a few. That sounds reasonable.

That was pretty much the reason we entered our more severe restrictions.
