Corona impact on NRL...?

Ridiculous to expect the warriors to leave their families for months to fly over to Australia to play NRL when they don’t even know what they’re being paid.

Still think may 28th will happen. Maybe a week or two later at the worst

The thing is, the NRL would’ve expected all that to be sorted now so the warriors would fly over knowing everything.

Channel 9 having a tantrum about how many rounds and how much they have to pay delayed the broadcast deal which in turn delayed figuring out the rest of it. Sacking the CEO in the middle of all that certainly didn’t help.

End of the day it was delayed by pointless whining by channel 9 which may push the season even further back

You know I'm actually more angrier about the Nathan Cleary situation .....you get caught out ...and then you lie about it

Cant believe he is so dumb. From what I have heard, the virus attacks the lungs, and in some people, then the kidneys. His father has only one kidney after donating one to his brother. Dont they all realise they are putting their own families at huge risk?

Barilaro has gone out of his way to support the NRL. Cleary has to go now for the season for the NRL to maintain credibility. Let's not forget there are poor elderly citizens dying just down the road and this clown carries on in his own world of selfishness.

Cleary now that he has been proven to have been a liar needs his punishment upgraded

Kick the family out of the game

Sorry is there more to the story that I missed? What has he lied about? (genuine question)

Cleary didn't mention the three different tic tic dances they did and claimed he didn't know it was filmed ...

The players are just as bad as the idiots in charge.

Refusing to train until the pay is sorted, whilst also refusing to adhere to the standards of social isolation set which is in affect sabotaging the pay negotiations... Add in Channel 9 trying to squeeze the NRL getting it as cheap as they can...

I am hoping V'landys has the balls to say to them all to forget it, 2020 is done. Grow up and we'll go around in 2021, those that are willing to not be actual morons.

NRL players are set to revolt against the code's plans to return to training on Monday and could jeopardise a May 28 restart, uniting in support of the Warriors' pledge not to leave New Zealand until a pay deal is agreed. (Sydney Morning Herald)

Tail wagging the dog again ...if they had gone hard assed on the 4 offenders no chance they even start this crap

Does the NRL realize they are dealing with spoilt brats yet ....stop treating them like responsible adults and just tell them what is happening and if they don't like ....doors that way

I don’t see how this is the players being ‘spoiled brats’. Would you start working a job without knowing your pay? They’re also supporting the Warriors boys who would have to leave their families to come over here and train and they don’t know what they’re getting paid.

The coaches and players have always been in agreement that they won’t start training until the warriors are over here training. If the warriors choose not to fly over here until knowing what they’re being paid that seems fair enough to me

Re: NRL pay deal. Suggestions the initial NRL offer to players was an additional 17 percent for the remainder of the year. Would have meant 70 percent in total. Unclear whether that was just to the Warriors or the entire playing group. Believe an updated offer has been made....

To all of you @NRL
players. You might consider me an old 'hasbeen' but you have the opportunity to get back to playing the game you love which in turn will bring a lot of happiness to many people. Do the right thing, stop the selfishness.

If Nathan Cleary has lied about his involvement (a) That’s obscenely stupid (b) It’s worse than the original breach (c) He will have to live with consequence of his actions. NRL will definitely reconsider the penalty imposed, which I considered to be too light in first place.

I’m sure the NRL will be scrambling to offer the players a pay deal ASAP. I doubt the season is delayed

Apparently the players have been given full pay until the end of May so they’re contractually obliged to train anyway. They must not of thought of that one lol

They're spoilt brats because they are thinking only of themselves. Realistically, they will be very lucky if the NRL starts up again this year, and very lucky if they still have jobs and get paid anything. If the games go ahead, tv will coverage it, and they will be paid something, that's a definite.

Refusing to train, and citing solidarity with the Warriors as they are disadvantaged by coming over with no guarantee that they will be paid as an excuse, is an absolute crock by the Australian clubs. Sick to death of these RLPA idiots.

The players, the admin, the tv networks - for all of them it's only about money. The only people involved in rugby league for whom money is not the primary factor is us the fans, and personally I hoped better by the players. It's not a job to play, it's meant to be a privilege.

PLAYERS FACING 20 PER CENT PAY CUT

Players are reportedly facing a 20 per cent pay cut to their overall 2020 salary after their threat to ‘revolt’ pushed the NRL into action.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Cameron Smith and a number of other senior players threw their support behind the Warriors, who are baulking at the season restarting before a new pay deal can be agreed.

The players were considering boycotting a key Monday meeting in a move that could jeopardise the NRL’s planned May 28 return, forcing the NRL to act on finalising a pay deal.

A phone hook-up between the RLPA and club delegates took place on Thursday afternoon where they were told to be prepared for the worst-case scenario of a 52 per cent pay cut for the final five months of their salary. This would amount to a 20 per cent pay cut over the entire year.

The NRL is locked in big broadcast negotiations with key partners Foxtel and Channel Nine.

I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t put my body and career on the line plus go through the intense lockdowns they’ll have to go through without knowing how much of a pay cut I’ll be taking. That seems fair enough to me.

You say it’s not a job but it is their job, and I’m sure most people wouldn’t work without knowing their pay. End of the day it was only a threat to push the NRL into offering them a deal and it’s worked, now they know what cut they’re taking and everyone can move on.

Channel 9 are the ones who caused this by delaying the broadcast deal trying to wiggle out of their contract + pushin the CEO out at the same time. If that doesn’t happen it’s already sorted by now.

Yep, in his probable last season, he wants every cent he can get. He wouldn't take a cent less from Storm for the good of the team, that prolonged negotiations, he insisted on a two year deal when Storm reportedly wanted 1.

King Grub, I'd be embarrassed as a player to have him represent me.
